MARCH FOR LIFE- There will be a bus trip to Washington DC on January 19th for the Annual March for Life. The major pick-up point is St. Mary s Church, 160 Broadway, Kingston leaving at 12:05 AM.. The cost is $20 students, $25 individual, $45 two in family, $60 three or more in family. Seating is limited. We strongly recommend that children under ten years of age not make the trip and that anyone under 18 years of age be under the supervision of an adult. Also, we urge that only those in good health make the trip. We suggest that you bring a lunch, and a blanket or pillow for the bus. If your donation is not sent in, it will be collected on the return bus trip. Make your checks payable to: Kingston Council K of C #275. Also, anyone who cannot attend but would like to help defray the cost of the trip may send a donation to: Kingston Council Knights of Columbus #275 C/O Al Kafel, 31 Dirk Lane, Kingston, NY Details: Leave 12:05 AM, stop for breakfast in Maryland, rally on the mall, March for Life, bus pick at 3:30 PM in front of Union Station, dinner break on route home, arrive in Kingston at approximately 11 PM. For reservations, please call Al Kafel at or St. Mary s at PRAY THE ROSARY Take the Prayer Challenge that is to pray the rosary for the unborn babies from today, every day until January 22nd the anniversary date of the infamous Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. On that day, thousands of people will protest at the March for Life to bring an end to abortion. Sign-up sheets will be at both exits of the church today. Free rosaries/instruction pamphlets available. OPEN HOUSE Will take place at John A. Coleman Catholic High School on Sunday, January 28th from 1 to 3 PM. Tour our school and meet with teachers and students about classes and activities. FMI, call or visit CHURCH STORE- Will be open from 3:30 to 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 13th, as well as after each of the Holy Masses on January 13 th and 14 th. PARISH COUNCIL Will be meeting on Monday, January 15th, at 6:30 PM in the Church Hall. All are invited to share thoughts, concerns or ideas to improve our parish. PANCAKE BREAKFAST SUNDAY- Will take place on Sunday, January 21st from 8 to 11 AM at the Knights of Columbus in Barclay Heights. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits, bacon, home fries, milk and coffee and more! All you can eat! Adults $8 Children under 8 $4. SNOW REMOVAL- With the winter season upon us the need for volunteers to help with the snow blowing and shoveling around the church and rectory after each snow storm would be most appreciated. 3 SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME My Dearest Sisters and Brothers in the Good Lord, This letter is very short because of lack of time and I am writing you on Tuesday morning, January 9 th, and I will be offering the Funeral Holy Mass for Joseph Dengler a little later this morning; please pray for the repose of his soul and for all his family and friends as well. There will be no Religious Education (Faith Formation) classes this Monday, January 15 th, because of the holiday observance of the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The date is his actual birthday anniversary as well as the birthday anniversary of John Cardinal O Connor; Lord have mercy on both of their souls. However, the Parish Council will meet on Monday evening, January 15 th, at 6:30 P.M. in the Church Hall and you are most welcome to attend the meeting. The Finance Council will meet on Tuesday, January 16 th, at 4:00 P.M. in the Rectory. There will be a Confirmation Class on Saturday, June 20 th, in the usual classroom in the Father Moran Center starting at 9:00 A.M. All-Day Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament will take place next Sunday, January 21 st, from after the 10:30 A.M. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION- Will take place next weekend after the 10:30 Mass and continue until the 8:30 PM Benediction. Evening prayers will be prayed at 5:30 PM. Sign up sheets are located at the side entrance of the church. A GIFT OF PRAYER- If you would like to dedicate your hour of Eucharistic Adoration for someone who is need of prayer, we have cards available. After you have brought your intentions before our Lord, during this hour, you may let the person know that they have been prayed for by sending them this special card BIBLE STUDY PROGRAM Will take place at the Immaculate Conception School, 471 Delaware Avenue, Kingston. Parishioners are requested to call the office with changes of address, telephone number or if you are moving away from the Parish. PLEASE CONSIDER- Downey Side Family Life Center is a non-profit agency which specializes in placing children ages 7-17 in loving, adoptive homes. Adults of all ages adopt; single, married and divorced people adopt; people of all income levels and living in apartments adopt; every race and religion can and do adopt; and physically challenged people adopt. Please, if at all possible, spend a little time adoring Our Lord in the Eucharist that day or evening and the Lord will be most grateful for your presence. The Church Store is open for business this weekend at its usual hours: 3:30 until 5:00 P.M. and after the 5:00 P.M. Holy Mass this Saturday, January 13 th and after the 8:30 and 10:30 A.M. Holy Masses this Sunday, January 14 th. I want to thank you for your generosity to last weekend s combined second collection for Catholic Communications and Catholic University. The March for Life will be this Friday, January 19 th ; all the details are in another section of this bulletin and I wish to thank you if you are able to go on it. Last, but not least, Ash Wednesday, which begins the Holy Season of Lent, is on February 14 th ; it is not too early to consider how we will spend the Lenten Season of extra Prayer, Fasting, and Works of Charity (Almsgiving). May all of us pray about it. Sincerely, with prayers, Father Bill Woodruff PEGNANCY COUNSELING SERVICES- The Catholic Home Bureau Maternity Services Department provides free counseling to any client regardless of age, legal status, religion, race or economic status who is faced with concerns arising from an unintended pregnancy. Staff offers on-going support, help in securing pre-natal care, referrals for housing, WIC, budgeting, limited financial assistance, maternity clothing, infant care and parenting classes and discussion of all available parenting options. For those clients who seek adoption information, or are planning a private adoption, we provide counseling and education. FMI, contact or ST. JOHN S FOOD PANTRY If you would like to volunteer in our Food Pantry on either a Wednesday or Friday from 10 AM to 12 Noon, please sign up on the calendar located on the bulletin board at the side of the church or contact Maria at SUPPORT GROUP FOR SEPARATION OR DIVORCE- Is offered at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. Widows and widowers are also welcomed. They also have available two people who work with those who are interested in restoring their marriage. FMI, call or TEN BROECK COMMONS- Is looking for volunteers to assist with the activity department. Whether it s taking the elderly outdoors, interacting with them during one of our many activities or just paying them a visit. If interested, call Ext JOKE Tech support people like me spend our days on the phone with customers. Many like to chat while waiting for their computers to reboot. One man told me he d been a long-haul truck driver. I d love to drive a big rig, I said, but I d worry about falling asleep at the wheel. Here s a tip to stay awake, he offered. Put a $100 bill in your left hand and hold it out the window.

4 JANUARY 14, 2018 PRAYER FOR LIFE Jesus, Mary and Joseph we love you very much. Help us spiritually adopt and protect all human life from preborn to natural death. Amen. MAKING ALL THINGS NEW God our Father, through the Gospel and the Eucharist, You bring us together as Your Church in the Archdiocese of New York. Send us Your Holy Spirit, to enlighten our minds and guide our actions as we plan for the future of parish life in this Archdiocese. Help us learn new ways to strengthen and revitalize our parish communities, and to be good stewards of the spiritual and material gifts that sustain them. Bless our work, so that our parishes may continue to witness to the truth of the Gospel, and be a sign of Your love for all people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
