Chris Alar who will give a presentation on Wednesday, December 12th at 7:00 p.m. at All Saints-St. Hedwig s Church: Understanding the Scandalwhy do we still need the Church? Come hear Fr. Chris explain how after the recent Church scandal and news of issues within the clergy why we still need the Church by discussing the question: Is the Church necessary for our salvation? Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, a priest with the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, wrote and produced the popular Divine Mercy 101 DVD and is the author of the soon to be released book After suicide: There is Still Hope for Them and You. He is an International speaker and is a regular host and guest on EWTN. At DivineMercyMatters.org. he hosts the online series: Divine Mercy Matters Currently, he serves as Fr. Joseph, MIC the director of the Association of Marian Helpers, and is the head of Marian Press, located on the grounds of the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Father Chris Alar Fr. Chris will also be speaking at Holy Cross Church in North Prairie the night before, December 11th at 7:30 p.m. His talk will be on how the message of Divine Mercy is closely related to the message of Our Lady of Fatima. There will be one fold and one shepherd. ~ Jn 10:16 Advent Cluster Confession Service will be at from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16th. Multiple priests will be present for individual confessions.

If you are feeling blue, come be with others who are feeling the same. A Blue Christmas Prayer Service on Sunday, December 16th at 4:00 p.m. in the All Saints--St. Mary's Church basement. Year of the Contemplative Well Read Mom Retreat: The Receptive Feminine Heart with Elizabeth Kelly as the facilitator will be on Saturday, February 2nd from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at St. John s Abbey. 4 Parish News & Events All Saints Christmas decorating Decorating for the blessed Christmas season at will be Sunday, December 23 after the 8:00 a.m. Mass. Please consider helping to prepare the church for this glorious season. Thank you. All Saints Building Committee update: Each week we will include some of our parishioner s responses regarding the future of our churches: 1. Build a new church! A great presentation-thank you. 2. Save our churches-fix them! From my personal observation we are getting along. Fix the steps. 3. We feel that no. 3 would be the best for our area. (Fundraise, teardown St. Mary s first, continue worshipping in St. Hedwig, build one new campus at St. Mary s location and then tear down St. Hedwig when all is complete. Have one location). Consider the tax impact for charitable contributions. Feedback from the Building Committee about Fr. Gregory s presentation after Mass. 1. The overall age of parishioners that stayed for the meeting were older. We need younger people to participate. 2. A neutral site to build is needed by some. 3. Disappointed at low turnout 4. Good facts presented. Good presentation overall. If we build-is there anyone interested in donating 5 acres in the City of Holdingford limits or interested in selling it to us? Please contact Bob Pueringer or Alan Fedor by January 31st, Thank you. New Building Committee Members Are there 2 or 3 parishioners who would like to join our building committee? We are in special need of young people, young married people and women. Contact Fr. Gregory. Next meeting is in Early February. Prayer Group needed We are in need of some (about 5) people Willing to sit on a committee to plan prayer times and opportunities as we move forward with the plan for the future of our church. Contact Deb Binsfeld from All Saints Parish Council if interested. No future planning and unity will happen correctly without Prayer! When will the decision be made? Hopefully, in the early part of this 2019 year. What are some facts missing before making a decision? 1. Is there any land that is neutral? 2. Can we fundraise enough? 3. How can you be part of the solution, not the problem? 4. How do we get our young generations involved in this process? 5. How do we stay proactive before the shortage of priests happens? When completing a task fill out one of the MinisTree cards found in the back of church and turn it into the Central Office or collection basket. If more than one person is helping with the task, each should fill out a card. Spiritual Retreat I was the lucky winner of the Spiritual Retreat at Pacem in Terris. The experience was so much more than what I expected; I was amazed how easy it was to slow down from our busy world we live in. During my time on the retreat I was able to have needed quiet time to reflect, to discern, to pray on my life, and ask questions like: what am I truly thankful for, where am I in my faith life, what do I need to work on, who should I be praying for, and what do I need to ask God s help with. Going on the retreat has helped me to grow spiritually. I recommend seeking this quiet time in your lives and hearing what God is saying to you. All Saints Faith Formation Students are focusing on the 10 Commandments: 3rd Graders are making Ten Commandment trains. 5th graders have displayed them with the crucifix. 7th graders made Ten Commandment cell phones. We invite all of you to pray a decade of the Rosary and a decade of the Divine Mercy Chaplet with us every class night starting at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints-St. Hedwig s. This is for all 6th, 7th and 8th grade youth. The theme is, Dream Small and features Keynote speaker Luke Spehar, a local musician and speaker from the twin cities. Cost is $20.
