What is the general flavor or description of your parish community? All Saints- Prayerful-always connected. Prayer line. Teamwork-working together (breakfast). Welcoming parish, generous in time and money. Combined. We are one (2 sites-1 parish). Immaculate Conception-Rural and prayerful, friendly and welcoming. Steadfast from generation to generation. St. Stanislaus-Young families, well attended Masses, Rural Community, City and Church Communities that cooperate well together and influence each other. 2. List Challenges your community faces when trying to become strong. All Saints- Having two churches become one, it has been hard to combine the different groups, The census project, Finding enough religious ed teachers and director. Trying to keep the youth here, short on Sacristans, limited office hours, Welcoming new parishioners and letting them know how to be involved. Immaculate Conception- Volunteers for ministry, 8 pm Mass is difficult for young children, Christian Mother s group is small, funeral lunch group, youth group, youth council St. Stanislaus-getting more people volunteering for ministries and fundraisers, retaining youth after Confirmation, keeping families of Baptized babies attending regularly, concern for changing clusters again. Finishing the new addition. 3. What are the strengths of your community? All Saints-Financially sound, church is always full, see people from all the parishes at Mass, good core group, many volunteers that are dedicated, church is well decorated, breakfasts, Men s prayer group, Holdingford Daze, great music, community and fellowship after Mass, Adoration. St. Stanislaus Good strong religious Ed program, Farmer s market and Community garden, On the Road Masses, A good core group of people as the rock of the church, good choir, Adoration for 12 hrs weekly, kid s Masses Immaculate Conception The Bazaar, strong family life, good participation at Masses, A welcoming community, financially strong, our church remains looking like a Catholic Church, good choir, Adoration after Mass, Father is available for Confession. 2 New Evangelization Corner Dear Friends, Like many of you, the road construction on County Road 9 has caused my little commute to work to grow a bit longer. Because I m relatively new to the area, the detour was initially a bit of an adventure for me! I started to feel like a true local as I navigated alternate routes on gravel roads with my little Toyota car. Lately, however, my patience with the detour has grown quite thin. Because of the evening programming I coordinate for our cluster, I often drive into Holdingford a few times a day. Last week, I think I grumbled complaints during every car ride! During one of my rants, I felt the Lord whisper, look for blessings. I wanted to stay mad, but as I looked around I couldn t help but notice the vibrant colors of the trees, the beautiful frost covering the countryside, and the sunrise peeping out over the horizon. The detour revealed the Lord s beauty and goodness in ways the well traveled road could not. Life is often filled with detours and disappointments. Many of us have experienced the pain of chronic illness, financial hardship, a sudden death or family distress. While suffering is indeed difficult, we often anxiously await for the season of suffering to pass instead of seeing the blessings in the detour. We would much rather get back to the clean-cut normalcy of life, but oftentimes it is precisely life s detours that allow us to grow and experience God s beauty and goodness in ways we otherwise couldn't. We act in solidarity this day, as we pray and share our gifts to help build-up the church around the world where the witness of Christ and support of the poor is still needed most. Envelopes are available in your monthly packets. All funds collected on World Mission Sunday support the pastoral, catechetical, charitable and evangelizing work of the Church in over 1,150 of the most in-need dioceses in 180 countries through the efforts of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, a Pontifical Mission Society directed by Pope Francis and administered by the local St. Cloud Mission Office. There will be a candlelighting ceremony for all those children who have died.
