2 New Evangelization Corner Dear Friends, In today s gospel, Jesus teaches us the importance of humility. I used to have an overwhelming feeling of unease whenever I thought about this virtue. This is because I incorrectly thought humility was the same thing as being mousey or having a low self-esteem. Through prayer and study, however, I have since learned that humility is about recognizing the truth about ourselves in relation to God. Humility first acknowledges that God is God and we are not. Because of our fallen nature, our little egos put up a good fight to be the front center of the world! Our pride often tempts us to believe that we are in control of our lives or that life is all about us. (My self-importance skyrockets at stop lights! Why aren t the lights on Division Street more accommodating to my little Toyota car?). But humility acknowledges that God comes first and that glory, honor, and praise are due to Him alone. Humility also acknowledges that while we were still sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). The realization that we don t have to earn God s love is a truth that takes a long time to take root, but when we are truly secure in God s love, humility begins to organically bloom within us. Resting securely in God s love eases us from the burden of perfectionism, striving, self-reliance and a picture perfect image. God s love allows us to find joy in simply being ourselves. God desires humility because he desires our joy, peace, and freedom. P.S. I have extra copies of the Five Love Language questionnaire. Weather permitting we will be cleaning windows as well as preparing for the holidays. Please bring a pail and cleaning cloth. The next cleaning will be in March. Any help appreciated!

Take a tour of the parish house to see what we have in our house. Maybe you ll think of some ideas for what we can do with this home. Many Many items for sale! May they praise Your mercies forever, and make use of the good things that do not last in such a way that they may not lose those goods that are everlasting, through Christ our Lord.
