Box 308, Holdingford, MN Ordination to the Permanent and Transitional Diaconate Richard Aubol Mark Botzet Gregory Sauer Dean Pawlowski Transitional Transitional Transitional Permanent At age 15, Fernando Martins asked to be sent to the Abbey of Santa Cruz in Coimbra, Portugal where he studied Latin and theology. He was Responsible for the Abbey s hospitality once becoming a priest. However, when Franciscan friars settled close by Fernando felt called to join them. With permission, he left the Abbey and joined the Franciscans changing his name to Anthony. Anthony was unexpectantly asked to give a homily when the Dominican friars visited the hermitage. Guided by the Holy Spirit, he Spoke so well that Francis of Assisi entrusted his friars education to Anthony. One of the novices decided to leave the hermitage and took Anthony s book of psalms, the one needed for teaching. Anthony prayed that it would be returned and it was as well as the novice who also Returned to the order. This is why the saint is referred to as finder of lost articles. St. Anthony of Padua So simple and resounding Was his preaching that in 1946 Pope Pius Xll declared Him a Doctor of the Church.

2 New Evangelization Corner Dear Friends, The fullness of summer is upon us! Grad parties, weddings, and anniversary celebrations mark many of our calendars this time of year, and many families are busy making preparations for camping trips and summer vacations. Summer celebrations provide excellent opportunities to reconnect with our families. I was reminded of this last weekend at my little (he s actually huge) cousin s graduation party where I spent my afternoon with my sisters and cousins laughing at inside jokes and squabbling over the last Special K bars. Though imperfect, the relationships we have in our families are very often the most familiar, intimate, and stable. We share mannerisms, quirks, memories, joys, and tears with our family members. It is in our families where we share deeply in another s life and allow ourselves to be known. In today s Gospel, Jesus tells us how our relationship with him, can reach equal depths: Whoever does the will of God is my brother, and sister and mother. Like our Blessed Mother, we too can intimately know Jesus by seeking, embracing and fulfilling God s will for our life. If we re honest, however, most of us would admit that sometimes staying faithful to God s will feels more like a chore than a call to deep intimacy with Jesus. But it is precisely in the difficulties of daily life where Jesus probes and exposes areas in our life in need of healing, and it is in our sufferings and trials where we are pruned to bear more fruit. God wills that everyone is saved, set free, made whole, and brought to the joy of the kingdom, and every circumstance in our life is used to accomplish this end. Every yes to Jesus, no matter how difficult it may be, paves the way to more profound joy, intimacy, peace, and restoration. Call Brenda Dobis at for extra raffle books. On Sunday, June 24th, all raffle tickets must be returned by 6:00 p.m. to the quilt and raffle stand. Everything you do is greatly appreciated. The success of our parish bazaar would not be possible without your help. Thank you! All Saints The process of revamping our funeral Lunch Program is well under way. This program is in place to provide the family of the deceased with a light luncheon on the day of the burial. All parishioners of All Saints parish will be included in this program. We are looking for volunteers to come forward to be group leaders. A leader will be responsible for organizing workers, lead kitchen duties and oversee serving and clean up. We would like to have 2 people work together as leaders for each group. Each group will need to serve approximately 1 time each year. Thank you to those who have said yes thus far. This parish community care and concern for a fellow parishioner in their time of grief has been a tradition that our parish would like to keep vibrant. Please pray and discern you involvement.
