P.O. Box 308, Holdingford, MN Draft of the proposed re-clustering of the Diocese of Saint Cloud This map was given to us Priests at our October workshop. The Diocese proposes a change in the next years of our configurations of parishes. The Bishop is choosing to Not close parishes before he retires next fall But the number of priests is projected to drop from 70 to 45 priests in the next five years. The Diocese wants to make each cluster bigger and call them Area Catholic Communities. By mid November the diocese wants to make a final decision on the configuration. Please contact your parish representative with your questions and ideas. We will discuss this at our Visionary Meeting on Monday, October 29th. 2 New Evangelization Corner Dear Friends, Call me a nerd if you d like, but a lot of my free time is spent studying matters of our Faith. I get a kick out of pursuing online articles, scouring church news, and listening to talks. But no matter how much head knowledge I acquire, I find that in the midst of suffering, it matters very little what I know about God. It matters that I know God. Suffering has a way of exposing how we really see God in the deeper parts of our hearts. It s in suffering that our faith in God is both tested and revealed. Suffering cuts to the crux of the matter: do you believe God loves you, or don t you? Is He all good,always good, or isn t He? In today s Gospel, we hear about the blind man Bartimaeus. Although Bartimaeus couldn t physically see Jesus, he knew the heart of Jesus, and in his suffering, he called out to Him. Many voices tried to silence Bartimaeus, but Bartimaeus chose instead to affirm that what he believed about Jesus was, in fact, true. Through his suffering, Bartimaeus was able to experience Jesus in a beautiful and profound way. But this only happened because Bartimaeus didn t let opposing voices silence his cries to God. In our suffering, it s most often the voices of our doubts, fears, and suspicions about God that threaten to silence our prayers. But the Catechism is quite clear that while faith is a gift from God, it is still an authentically human act. This means that like Bartimaeus, we too must make acts of faith. We must choose to believe that God is who He says He is. Bartimaeus witnessed the mighty hand of God because of his persistence and faith. What kind of miracles would we witness if we had unwavering faith in the goodness of God? 3 News & Events Knights of Columbus All Hallowed Night Mass in the St. Anna Cemetery will be on October 31st at 7:00 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair, flashlight and warm clothes. If raining it will take place in the church. Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. and be led by the Knights. Thank you Pat and her staff at the Pelican Lake ballroom, the Brothers Knights and all who helped at the Fall Chicken and Ham Dinner fundraiser. 4 Parish News & Events St. Stanislaus Turkey Bingo: St. Stanislaus Social Justice Ministry Fundraiser will be Sunday, November 11th at 1:30 p.m. at St. Stanislaus, in Bowlus. We are looking for raffle prizes, monetary donations for the turkeys and food for the luncheon. Please contact Rita Trettel or Tom and Joanie Fussy Thank you! All Saints Cash raffle tickets are on sale now. The drawing will be held on our feast day, Nov.1st. We are selling 200 tickets at $100 each. Grand Prize is $5,000. Sacrament of Reconciliation All Cluster Study This Advent, our parish cluster will offer a three-week study and discussion on the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This study called Forgiven: The Transforming Power of Confession, will explore the grace and healing offered in Confession and show how this sacrament of mercy reveals the depth and bounty of God s love. The Forgiven study will be offered on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m in the basement of All Saints - St. Mary s. The Tuesday sessions will begin on November 27th and the Thursday sessions will begin on November 29th. Volunteer for the All Saints Rummage Sale All Saints Building Committee has met quite a few times this summer and fall. We have been discussing many options and costs of fixing the issue of the St. Hedwig s steps and all other building issues. We will meet at All Saints-St. Mary s after Mass at 9:05 a.m. in the church to present what we ve been discussing. The meeting will last 45 minutes. Please plan to attend. The Priest workshop in Alexandria was very heated because our topic was planning for the future when we go from 70 to 45 priests in the near future. We were presented with new clusters that are bigger. We have been asked to take the groups back to the parish leadership with their response to it by mid November. I would like to have a Cluster Visionary meeting on Monday October 29th at St. Stanislaus in Bowlus from 7-8:30 pm for parish councils, finance councils and trustees. We will also choose goals for the upcoming year and have an introduction to FORMED. Please attend.
