1 July 2018 The Flock The Printed Voice of St. Francis of the Tetons Episcopal Church The Voice of the Vestry Church Services Sundays at 10:00am All are welcome For worship and fellowship Sunday School Sundays at 10:00am First and Third Sundays of the Month Office Hours Monday Thursday 9am - 1pm Friday 10am - 2pm St. Francis of the Tetons Episcopal Church 20 Alta School Rd. Alta, Wyoming sftetons@silverstar.com stfrancis.episcopalidaho.org July is here already with another Eat and Meet scheduled on Tuesday, July 10th. The theme is BBQ with an all-star team of Clarke Arick and Patty Sticher and Jim Pratt and Christine Tan to sponsor the event. Please bring a side dish and all of your friends. Lets make this another well attended community get together. We have arranged for good weather that day so it will be held outside in the majesty of the Tetons. The yard sale is coming up on August 11th, we will be accepting donations until the week of the sale. So, go through your stuff and cleanse the heart of your garage so you might even be able to find what you are looking for next time. Tin Cup is in the contribution stage and we urge your generous support for St. Francis so that we can continue to build on the programs that the church supports. Let s take advantage of this opportunity to give back to the community with the help of Tin Cup matching funds. We have no lack of opportunity to serve the church, as well as the community right now. There are always positions for refreshments, Lay Reader, Usher Greeters and now we really need help refreshing the Worship Leaders staff. This is a wonderful way to give back at the same time you develop your own spiritual life. Sometimes all it takes is the thought I d like to do that, but I don t think I can. Believe me, it s not that hard and we will walk you through every step. I remember how hesitant I was the first time I was asked to be a Lay Reader, Deb said, just remember the congregation is just happy it s you rather than them. There is no better time than now to take the next step in the life of Christ, the call to develop your gift that has been with you your whole life. Let us go to love and serve the Lord. God s peace, Rod
2 Tin Cup 2018 Saturday, July 21st at Driggs City Park Fundraising opportunity for local nonprofits with family activities, a 5K fun run/walk, competitive 10K & 5K races, and a free community breakfast. 9am 6pm Race Participate in the 10K, 5K, or the 5K Fun Run/Walk Donate By listing St. Francis as the organization you wish to support It s that time of year again: The 10th annual Tin Cup Challenge is about to get underway. Since the first Tin Cup Challenge in 2007, St. Francis of the Tetons has been one of the many nonprofits who participate in this community-wide fundraising effort, which is coordinated and administered through the Community Foundation of Teton Valley. Tin Cup funds designated to St. Francis have gone to support our church s many outreach efforts for residents of Teton Valley: Back to School (eg., buying teaching materials for two special education teachers); Back to Health (eg., paying for medical procedures and social activities for the specialneeds residents of the Calderwood House); and Back to Work (eg., helping residents obtain employment by purchasing needed tools). Tin Cup funds have also gone to help with rent payments and other housing needs. And of course, St Francis is the proud sponsor of Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troops 185, and Brownie Troop 48, which are open to all youth regardless of any religious affiliation, thanks to Tin Cup funds. These are just a few examples of how St. Francis has used Tin Cup funds to improve the lives of Teton Valley residents. The Community Foundation will begin mailing out brochures to all valley residents on May 30, with the giving period running June 1- July 27. And mark your calendars for Saturday, July 21, when the spirit of Tin Cup generosity will be celebrated in a community-wide event, held in Driggs City Park. Look for our booth, one of many hosting family fun activities for all. We invite you to be part of these important outreach efforts. Simply check St. Francis of the Tetons on the brochure when you make out your tax deductible check to the Community Foundation of Teton Valley. Any questions, contact St. Francis Tin Cup r epresentatives J i m and Connie Steele at connsteele@msn.com.
