We are transitioning into a beautiful autumn. This is always a great time for me as I love to see the leaves changing and experience the cooler weather. With school back in session our Sunday attendance is increasing! I know that summer is the time for vacations, trips to the lake, etc. As we move forward I am excited to announce that we will be doing Wednesday Night Live at Grace again this year! We will start on September 30 th and go for 6 weeks. We will offer 3 adult classes plus classes for all age groups. We will start at 6:00 with a community meal and finish at 7:45 so as to get the children home by 8:00. You will hear more about this at church! Speaking of church I so much appreciated the new combined worship band. They will be leading both churches on the last Sunday of each month. At Lexington we will be doing the bottles for Baby Grace starting September 13 th. On that Sunday each family will be asked to pick up their baby bottle and over the next month fill it with change and then bring it back. The money will be used to buy diapers for the Lexington Baby Grace ministry. Our hope is that the bottle will be a daily reminder that there are single parents raising children who need our help. Not all of our parents are single but it seems that those who are spend a large amount of their income for babysitters, etc. so that they can work, often at minimum wage jobs. We can and should be a help to them as witnesses of Jesus Christ. That is it for now. God bless and see you on Sunday! Terry

2 NOTES FROM SARAH: "Dancing With A Star," women's retreat is Saturday, September 12th, here at the church. Forevermore, the worship team comprised of women from around the state, will be providing our program. Our program deals with women's issues and society today and applies to women of all ages. We begin at 9 am until 3 pm with lunch provided. There is also babysitting should you need it. A free will offering will be taken to defray cost of our lunch. Call the church at to reserve your spot. YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS IT!!!! Kick off Sunday was August 3oth with two new classes beginning along with those in place. It's not too late to join us for small group discussions beginning at 9:30. Bring you kids for Sunday School and find and join a group for you. We'll have the coffee on for you. Our administrative council has changed their meeting times. We are now meeting every other month on the third Monday at 5:30 pm. Our next meeting is Monday, Sept. 21st., so plan on coming and working with us to make our programs and plans only better. All are invited to join us!!! Terri and Tony James will be hosting "The James Gang!!!" What's that you say?? WELL. this group is an evening study group that will begin on September 10th at their house with Pastor Terry facilitating. This group caters to those approaching the" empty nest syndrome!" SO-o-oo if you are of that age and time in your life, plan on joining the group at the James, Larkin Lane, at 7 pm. With our new fall season approaching maybe you'd like to assist in some of our household duties around the church. We always need greeters, communion preparers, ushers, hall monitors, kitchen suppliers, etc. You get the picture. If you feel you could help in any of these areas, please contact Jacki Worthington to get on the list. Our church leadership team will meet at the church, Tuesday, September 15th at noon. If you're on that team please try to be here with new ideas and direction. It will last about an hour. Lazarus Table If you would like a rewarding experience, mark your calendar for October 25. Set aside that Sunday to help serve a meal to 5 or more homeless sojourners at Grand Ave Temple, 9th & Grand in Kansas City. While volunteering at Grand Avenue Temple, you will also attend their church service which is an extraordinaire, uplifting experience. Our LUMC volunteers carpool, and generally leave our parking lot at 8 a.m., and return by 2:30 p.m. A sign-up sheet will be on the table in the narthex. This will be your last LUMC opportunity in 2015 to volunteer at Lazarus Table. For more information, contact Janae Fuller or Lynda Johnson. 3 Grounded in Scripture, BELIEVE is a unique discipleship experience that helps Christians of all ages become more like Jesus in their beliefs, actions, and character. This topical, abridge Bible illuminates the core beliefs of the Christian faith to help you think, act, and be more like Christ. BELIEVE will help you answer these important questions. * What do I believe? * What should I do? * Who am I becoming? Class starts Wednesday, Sept 16th at 7pm. Nursery provided! As school is back underway, so is the LUMC Youth group in full swing. Lots of fun, excitement, and opportunities for spiritual engagement are right around the corner. We will be looking for help to put on a Large Hunger Games themed lock-in, including devotionals, games, and a chance for our kids to "scavenge" for food, to support our local food pantry. We'll also be fostering leadership abilities as each youth will be responsible to provide a devotional during a youth gathering throughout the season. Also look out for paintball, FUNdraisers, and joyful noises coming from The Well. As always we're so thankful for your support as we develop your church of tomorrow. In Jesus Name, Rowdy and Annie Yates LUMC Missions to Help Migrant Farm Worker Families Each August through October, several hundred migrant farm worker families come to Lafayette County to help harvest the local peach and apple crop. One of our LUMC mission projects involves reaching out to serve these families. LUMC will assist with the Monday evening food & clothing distributions for the migrant farm workers on September 14 and October 12. LUMC needs six to eight volunteers to work from 3:30 p.m. until approximately 7:30 p.m. at the UMOS Head Start building (former school district Success Center/Skating Rink). LUMC is also collecting bags of dry red beans and white rice (not instant) to donate, in addition to brown paper grocery sacks. Collection boxes are in the narthex. If interested in helping, contact Lynda Johnson at or call the church office. LUMC Sets October 3-4 for our United Methodist SERVE 2015 Event Here is your opportunity to put your faith into action. We will be joining UMC members across Missouri this fall to reach out and serve others in our community in all sorts of ways. Plan now to hold the dates so you can get involved, there will be something for everyone. New ideas are always needed, so contact the church office.
