Commissioner Reports need to be distributed prior to Vestry Meeting. New Business Discuss items that commissioners need Vestry assistance, guidance or approval. Old Business Items that require continues conversation at Vestry Meetings. 4) Senior Warden: a) Peter Haynes lunch meeting on 9/17. 5) Junior Warden: a) August, lowest attendance for the year. b) Profile Committee First meeting on 9/13 6) Ombudsperson: No Report

2 7) Finance: a) Monthly Financial Summery, Balance Sheet and P&L handed out. b) Twin Oaks landscaping is addressing our landscaping needs. 8) Stewardship: a) Stewardship campaign is slated to run from October 7 to November 11. b) As of September 10th, we have received 66% of our year s pledge income, so we are slightly ahead. The notices in the Messenger seem to be doing their job thank you Norris. c) Frank has agreed to join the Stewardship commission. If you are aware of anyone interested in serving, please let Stacie know. d) The Stewardship commission met on September 10 th to talk about this year s campaign. 9) Building and Grounds: No Report 10) Christian Education: a) Every Week Sundays at 9 Will be revisited following Kerygma (February 2019) Sundays at 10 Church School: Nursery, Godly Play & Formation Sunday 11:30 1:00 Kerygma Discovering the Bible Study (9/9/18 1/27/19) b) Inklings Meets the 3 rd Thursday of each month 9:30 11:00, Davis Library. Study and discuss the works of C.S. Lewis. Reconvenes September 20, finishing Mere Christianity, Book 4 by the end of c) Men s Group Meets each Thursday at 7:30am in Davis Library. Currently reading God, A Human History by Reza Aslan. d) Women s Fellowship Meets on the last Tuesday of the month at Beth Bianchi s house. e) Bible Challenge Meets 3 rd Sunday in Davis Library. Currently reading For the Beauty of the Earth, Daily Devotions Exploring Creation. f) Upcoming Events: November 4 Bishop s Visit and Confirmation November 11 Praying Our Goodbyes & WWI Armistice 100 Year Anniversary 11) Communication: a) Recent activities: Completed print and electronic editions of the September edition of "For the Love of Mike" LOM newsletter using Constant Contact software. Openership of CC is currently between 40 and 50 percent of the 220 mailed. Continued weekly publication St. Mike s Messenger. Peter C updated parish attendance statistics. Updated our two Facebook pages (The Daily Mike and The Parish Facebook page.) The hashtag #7bp links to Facebook postings by Bishop John Taylor and the hashtag #bpsuf to postings by Bishop Diane Bruce. Clyde continues to video Father Michael s homilies (and Ray s organ music) on Vimeo. A Vimeo catalog has been added to our newsletter. Discussions continue about improving parish communications with Membership vision (Merrill Whatley) after Vestry approval of their proposal. MV has presented a draft new website. Peter Coppen is (still) anticipating his retirement when we find a replacement. Our work with Membership Vision will lead the way here. c) Vestry Handbook Received one set of comments and I m (still) looking forward to your comments on

3 the revised Vestry Handbook distributed in September d) St. Mike s Social Media Instagram The stmikessocal Instagram site now has (previous month) 306 (258) postings; and 133 (106) followers. The Instagram feed is linked at both of our Facebook pages. Please Note: The active SMAA Instagram address is Instagram/stmikessocial. There is an inactive duplicate site that some have found and asked about. (This old page, Instagram/stmikescdm/, now give the message Sorry, this page isn t available. ) Facebook pages (Anyone can post to these following the guidelines below): _The Daily Mike (news about the Diocese of Los Angeles, The Episcopal Church, The Anglican Communion, Anglicanism, world religion, authors of note, and daily worship followers.) _The Parish Facebook page: (parish activities and events 201 followers _SMAA Friends of Music Facebook page (25 followers.) _For the Love of Mike online -- E-LOM added to Facebook pages in March _The Parish Website _The Daily Mike online daily newsletter (free daily subscriptions available.) Note: We no longer pay for a parish subscription to ChurchNext, the online Christian Learning Site, because only a few parishioners took advantage of it. Individuals can subscribe for 9.00 a month and many programs are free with this subscription. e) Communications Dropbox link You can access my SMAA Dropbox Communications folder through the link below. The folder offers relevant (and some irrelevant) SMAA comms documents. I have prepared a Communication Wish List , and it is in the Dropbox folder. It is also available here. I d appreciate your feedback and ideas. f) Episcopal Communicators The latest TEC comms discussions are here. This is a searchable site addressing many common church communication questions. I continue to cross-promote our social media sites in our other parish media. The public affairs office of The Episcopal Church publishes daily news of interest around the USA. You can subscribe here. 4 13) Fellowship: a) CORE Basketball Fellowship and Evangelism will ost a Welcome back to St. Michael and All Angels on September 22. Pizza, salad, beverages and take-home cookies will be served. b) GFS commissioning and kick-off September 22 nd, Jan Woodson is assisting. c) Summer Concerts on the Green City of Newport Beach. Last concert was last week.
