In my life, as perhaps in yours, I spend so much time as a human doing, and often neglect my human being. Holy Week was a wonderful reminder for me of the power of just being. Being with others in silence waiting at the tomb during the Easter Prayer Vigil, serving others at the Maundy Thursday foot washing, praying with others on Good Friday, celebrating with others on Palm Sunday and Easter morning. And in our human beingness we reflect, ponder, recall our own experiences of waiting, serving, praying and celebrating. Filling our own cup is paramount to what God calls us to do. Remembering our authentic selves, practicing forgiveness of self and others, gifting ourselves and those we love with endless second chances, doing our best day by day to live a Christ-infused life of love, peace and joy prepares us to go and serve. God gives every one of us a miracle each day that of waking up anew, reborn into the love of Christ, calling us by name to follow Him knowing we are loved and valued just as we are right here, right now. During this holy season of profound miracles, let us lift up prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving for all we have here at St. Francis and in Teton Valley. We are showered with abundant blessings, good minds, strong hearts and hands that reach out to help another. We bless our steadfast longtime members and friends and welcome with celebration our newer parishioners who enrich our St. Francis family with their gifts of time, talents, hearts of service and spiritual energy. 2 P A G E 2 Mother s Day Brunch Coming on May 11th On May 11th there will be a Mother s Day brunch, sponsored by the men of the parish, to honor those who dedicate themselves as not only a mother but as a caregiver and wife. This brunch is open to all, whether you are a mother or not. Men, please bring a dish to share and please show off your cooking skills by making it yourself! Canon Lucinda On the Move at St. Francis Canon Lucinda Ashby has blessed us with her presence this year at St. Francis; she has been instrumental in not only guiding us on our spiritual journeys but also preparing us for the ordination of Deb Adams. Deb will be ordained as a Deacon on June 22nd and then as a Priest on December 21st. We look forward to seeing more of Canon Lucinda as our parish continues to grow in the coming year. The Alta Retreat Center began in 1993 as a vision of Episcopal Bishop John Thornton, now retired, who saw a need in Teton Valley for both a community parish and a retreat center. The retreat focused on seven day programs designed by Father Thomas Keating, a Trappist monk and former abbot, who helped to develop the Centering Prayer method of Christian meditation during the 1970 s. Rev. Sandra Casey-Martus was the first priest at St. Francis. Rev. Casey-Martus went to the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas and was ordained as a priest in the Episcopal church. Those who first shared the vision of establishing the first Episcopal church in Teton Valley, along with Bishop John Thornton and his wife were Bruce Blackmer, Father Elvin Big Gallagher, Rev. Suzanne Harris, Archdeacon Jim Herndon, Toni Hill, Robert & Naomi Hunter, Father Frank Johnson, Judy & Ted Loughrin, Robert Meier, Rev. Richard Miller, Jean & Bob P Pool, Ann & Bob Pickens, Darrell & Sara Reinke, Angela Remer Warner, Rob & Kathy Roberts & Father Lynn Wright. Church Clean Up Volunteers Needed! Friday, May 30th will be our annual church spring clean up date. Volunteers are needed to help with small jobs inside and outside of the church grounds. Just show up from 3-6pm with your sleeves rolled up and ready to go while experiencing fun church fellowship while you work. Pizza, beer and wine will be served for those who come and help with this church ministry. Ladies Lunch Corner Those church ladies were at it again! Someone has spotted them helping the Easter bunny with the task of stuffing Easter eggs. At left are Margo Taylor, Monica Hoth, Sharon Froberg, Deb Rouleau, Jenn Chamberlin, Gayle Lien & Nancy Parisee (taking the picture). The next lunch is scheduled for May 21st at 12:30, gardening will be the topic of their next meeting. All are invited to come to these lunches; please bring a dish to share.

Absent John Paul Trudelle The minutes were reviewed for the February meeting, there was one correction to be made; Toni made a motion to accept the minutes, as corrected, and Jim seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carries. Sr. Warden Report Old Business was discussed beginning with a correction brought up by Jim Rein regarding the amount to be paid back from the $12,000 borrowed to finish the work on the Columbarium. Jim had remembered that the actual amount to be paid back was to be $ and not $ ; Carol will follow up with this and will report back to the Vestry at the next meeting. Saturday, May 3 rd will be the Eastern Deanery Day meeting, Sharon and Erica will represent the church at this event. Carol will follow up with Lisa on the status of the MOU with the Seventh Day Adventist church. Next week Canon Lucinda will be here, Carol asked the Vestry to make sure they read the book Born of Water, Born of Spirit before her visit. The staff meetings have continued; Carol had noted that there was a discussion with the staff regarding the way they receive their pay, it was decided by the staff that they would like to continue receiving their pay by check, the way it has been done in the past and not direct deposit. Deb Adams had a reimbursement request for travel expenses and two books that she had to buy for her studies. A motion was made by Sharon to approve reimbursing Deb $93.21 for the expenses, Erica seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carries. Deb Adams will follow up with a discrepancy that was found last month on his request for Rev. Cunningham s pay when he visits. Carol said there was a request from Cathy Mason for $ for the scout troop, the finance committee will draft up the request. The Pastoral Care Committee will be having a meeting to review parameters that have been in place for this program. Jr. Warden Report Jim Rein had enlightened the Vestry on the energy audit that will take place; Fall River is working with Electrical Wholesalers on a program to save energy while upgrading the lighting in the church. We would have to agree to buy our fixtures from Electrical Wholesalers. Ron Lien and Jim met and have noted two options for the church; one of which was to change all the bulbs with more energy efficient bulbs and the other was to change all the fixtures to LED, 30 year fixtures. The audit report was not ready yet to review. We will look at pendant light fixtures to see if they qualify for the program. The Columbarium has no further leaks; Jim thought the leaks noted in the past may have been from driving rain. Finance Committee Jim handed out financials for the Vestry to review. The TDBA was reviewed, Nanci made a motion to accept the expenditures for the month of February and Clarke seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carries. Jim Steele has volunteered to take on the Tin Cup challenge this year. Carol stated that she would like to see the Boy Scout program needing Vestry approval for any expenditure over $ The Finance committee recommended that the Columbarium maintenance come out of the operating expenses of the church instead of a designated Columbarium maintenance fund; it was decided to invite the Columbarium committee to our next Vestry meeting to explain. Worship Committee The Vestry reviewed the last Worship Committee minutes, no further discussion took place. Toni stated that she would like to sing the prayer of St. Francis in our worship services, Carol stated that she will take this back to the Worship committee.\ Christian Education Nancy gave an update on the Paradise Point camp for youth this summer, two members of the congregation will be attending. Other Business Becky had suggesting the church use a microphone for the services; we will follow up with Ron Lien on the status of the microphone and the system that the church already has. Nancy had brought up the bigger bulletins on Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday and Christmas. Nancy had stated the cost of printing the larger bulletins was quite a bit and we could save money by purchasing more hymnals and Book of Common Prayer books for the pews, than we could use colorful bulletins and print out the same size bulletin as on a regular Sunday. Erica reminded the Vestry that we print out the entire service as a favor to people who only come to worship occasionally so they don t have to fumble through all the books. It was decided to continue using the longer bulletin for these three services. Jim stated that he has asked Rod Gust to help with the Junior Warden duties while he was gone. Becky spoke of some ideas that she has for fundraisers for the church. Carol had suggested that we might want to think about getting our Outreach committee back up again. Meeting adjourned.
