1 J U N E The Flock T H E P R I N T E D V O I C E O F S T. F R A N C I S O F T H E T E T O N S E P I S C O P A L C H U R C H A Voice from the Vestry Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit. -Zechariah 4:6 Although I admit to not spending a lot of time in Old Testament reading, I am these days reminded of this particular verse, which is a favorite of mine. I continue be amazed at God s patience with us and Spirit waiting until we are each individually ready to hear what it has to say. That we are given this choice is an astounding thing! St. Francis of the Tetons Episcopal Church 20 Alta School Rd. Alta, Wyoming Phone: sftetons@silverstar.com episcopalidaho.org Please join us for Worship Service & Sunday school at 10AM I remember the very first time I walked in the doors of St. Francis and have shared my experience with many of you. There was frankly a powerful and moving sense of Spirit calling loudly to me that I was supposed to be there, FINALLY! I was a hard nut to crack with my 15+ yrs. of absence from any church under my belt, but Spirit never gave up on me and I no longer could refuse to listen. Utterly amazing it continues to be to me that God wants us all, no matter how flawed, fragile and lost we might be. As a short-timer in this valley compared with many in our parish, I hope I never lose sight of this perspective of the specialness of our community here at St. Francis and the strength of Spirit that is constantly with us. I have heard similar feelings expressed by others who are newbies and it tells me that Spirit is still working and continues to call out to each of us in our own way. What a wonderful blessing that reinforcement is as we walk our path to a stronger faith. Just Sunday at the service for Anne Williams outside by the columbarium, that same feeling of Spirit strength was expressed to me by one of the attendees who knew and honored Anne by attending. Clearly, Spirit was once again present and expanding the circle that nourishes and sustains, another terrific acknowledgement that all that needs to be IS happening. Spirit expresses itself in so many way in our St. Francis community and all the branches of outreach and giving that expand outward through scouts, food bank, soup night, etc. We might be small but we are MIGHTY in what we can accomplish with Spirit working alongside us. These past weeks have brought pain, sorrow, joy and all the experiences of human emotion in myriad forms to our community. Spirit has been there for us no matter what, reaching out and holding us, urging us and walking with us through it all just LOVING us. We could not ask for more! God s Peace, Sharon

5 St. Francis Staff April 14, 2015 VESTRY METING MINUTES April 14., 2014 Priest Rev. Debra Adams Senior Warden Lisa Wagener Junior Warden Rod Gust Treasurer Cheryl Reinertsen Music Director Gayle Lien Parish Assistant Jaine Lewis Parish Sexton Angie Warner Parish Historian Toni Hill Present were Becky Park, Lisa Wagener, Monica Hoth, Sharon Froberg, Clarke Arick, Cheryl Reinertsen, Rod Gust and Carol Taylor. Meeting began at 5:00p.m. Approval of last month's minutes. Cheryl asked to approve the minutes with one change. Her name is spelled with an e not an o. Cheryl made a motion to approve minutes as changed with Clarke seconding the motion. Motion passed. Senior Warden Report Lisa brought up an item about our committees in St. Francis. She feels that new blood is needed on the Columbarium Committee. Lisa would also like Vestry members to be on each of the committees and would like to try to reestablish some of our committees. Specifically the Columbarium committee and the Endowment Committee. Lisa, Becky, Sharon volunteered to be part of the Columbarium Committee. Lisa said that Nancy Parisee is heading up the paver project. We still need one more person on the Endowment Committee and it cannot be a Vestry member. We will ask in the congregation for someone interested. The other committees are as listed: Christian Education Monica Hoth Finance Committee Cheryl Reinertsen Outreach Clarke Arick and Becky Park Building & Maintenance Clarke Arick Green Mission (outreach) Carol Taylor Columbarium Sharon Froberg, Becky Park, Lisa Wagener Vestry is asking each committee to create a sheet of the duties, members and meetings to give to the Vestry. Worship committee is doing that at present and doing it very well. Lisa is going to send the descriptions we already have on file to each committee for reference. Monica felt that there should even be terms for each committee member. Don't panic, these can be very fluid terms. Lisa touched on the responsibilities of Vestry members. We are elected by the congregation; we for the best interest of the congregation and we are to be leaders by example. Diocesan grant Is there anything that we need from the Diocese? We need to think of ideas for the next vestry meeting. Carol suggested sleeping bags for an emergency plan. Which led to a discussion about our emergency preparedness and if we can be a shelter for the community if there is a major disaster. Carol is going to talk to Wendy Danielson to see if she'd be interested in talking the Teton County, Idaho about our role in Disaster Preparedness. Rod is going to research lighting and fixtures for the church. We must see if this qualifies for the grant. Rod had researched round tables for the hall. These tables can be adjusted up or down for multiple use. We will see if the table would qualify for the grant. We need to know which size, how many and how we will pay for the tables. Bishop Brian Thom is scheduled to visit May 24, He would like an updated roster with new and old members. Vestry Member on Duty is now on the calendar on the wall in the conference room and on Google Calendar.
