The fundraising raffle to benefit ECHO Meals on Wheels was a success and allowed the church to make a $1500 donation. Accepting the check for ECHO was Judy Sheets. Also there were three very happy winners of the $1000, $500, and $250 prizes. The accompanying lasagna dinner was attended by well over 100. Those that had their meal with us were certainly a lively bunch - heavily involved in conversation and laughter. Those that took advantage of the takeout option came and went with smiles on their faces. This has become a popular event. Thanks to the many St. Luke s volunteers that make this event a success. The Search Committee is deeply into the process of completing St. Luke s Parish Profile for national distribution by the Diocese. The church-wide survey has been completed by a high percentage of parishioners and the results are being tabulated and analyzed by Holy Cow Consulting a professional organization that has helped well over 2000 congregations assess their needs, wants and desires. The Search Committee is also busy assembling information on all aspects of St. Luke s, Camillus, and Central New York. Their goal is to have our profile to the Diocese by June 1. We also had a wonderful series of Lenten Lunch and Supper discussions led by Mother Kathy. Much of the time was devoted to assembling and discussing the history of St. Luke s from the very beginning buildings, rectors, parishioners, programs, and outreach. It was a very rewarding activity and we thank Mother Kathy for her time, interest, and dedication to this five week endeavor. Please continue to support each other through this time of transition. 3 Let your light shine During the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told his disciples that they were the salt of the earth and the light of the world: Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to you Father in heaven, he said in Matthew 5:16. Let your light shine. I was invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner for ECHO Meals on Wheels to recognize your good work and years of supporting Meals on Wheels as individual volunteers and through the parish (also it s always good to invite a minister to say Grace!) Eileen Robertson was singled out and I was asked to make sure she was told how much her support of Meals was appreciated. So, Eileen, Thank You! St. Luke s support of Meals on Wheels goes back to the early days of the organization in As we talked about the history of the parish in our Lenten meals, I learned that many of you were early volunteers including those early days when the meals were made in individual s homes! Many parishioners have served as drivers or office help. And now, Eileen and the Outreach Committee oversee your giving of produce from the garden and money raised through the raffle at the Lasagna Dinner to Meals (St. Luke s was the largest donation mentioned at the Volunteer Dinner, to many ooh s and aah s!) And this is the support I m aware of I believe you ve supported in additional ways through the years. This is one perfect example of the way that St. Luke s lets your light shine. It s one of the ways you all work for the healing of the world and the coming Kingdom of God. I m grateful to be working with you. 4 Bishop Skip's Ministry Celebration On the morning of Saturday, October 22nd, we will celebrate the ministry of Bishop Skip's Episcopate with a diocesan-wide Eucharist and luncheon which will be held at the Oncenter. A choir will be gathered together for this special occasion. The Planning Team would like to include choir members from parishes throughout the diocese, so If anyone from St. Luke's is interested in participating in this choir, please speak to Mother Kathy. More will be coming about this special event at a later date. Pentecost We celebrate Pentecost on Sunday, May 15. Wear red to church, the color of the Holy Spirit.

5 Catfish Volunteers Needed Camillus Area Transport Friends In Service Here (CatFISH) is a volunteer organization that provides transportation to town of Camillus senior citizens for medical and dental appointments. The service, which is free of charge, is offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Seniors must be ambulatory, unable to drive themselves or have no other means of transportation. CatFISH is a program of the Town of Camillus, and has twenty dedicated volunteers. Volunteers act as schedulers, dispatchers, drivers and board members. Due to the high demand for this service, more drivers are needed. If you would like to serve the community and become a CatFISH volunteer, please call the Camillus Senior Center at OUTREACH NEWS This year Outreach will again host a sale to raise funds for our projects. We will have a Treasures and Bake sale on Saturday, July 16th. We will again invite vendors to set up outside for free. The vendors presence lets the community know that there is an event happening. The dates for the beginning of donations are: Treasures June 19 Baked goods July The signup sheet for bakers and helpers will be up on June 19. Thanks to our congregation for the generous response for our Samaritan Center collection. This year we collected over 500 items. This is our third year collecting these items and due to our success, this will become an annual event. Thanks for your generosity. Your Outreach Committee remains committed to creating Welcome kits for new Meals on Wheels clients. So far we have created 180 kits. We check with Meals on Wheels quarterly to see how many kits they have on hand and determine if it is time to create more. We have managed to accumulate all the items for the kits for $1.00 or less by shopping at Wegmans, Price Chopper, Walmart and Dollar Tree. This is funded by the Outreach budget. As always, we are open to suggestions for new Outreach fundraising and Outreach projects. Please contact Eileen Robertson at

6 Congratulations to Doug and Carol Law, who celebrated a Renewal of Vows at the 10:30 service on April 17, in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary! May they have many more happy years together! St. Luke's Fundraising is conducting another Delta Sonic Gift Card campaign. The gift cards are available for $5 each or 3 for $10, and can be applied to any car wash, oil change, or detailing service. They are good until June 18, 2016 and value is $2 after that. They make a great gift for friends and family and the proceeds of the sale directly helps St Luke's and our mission. Tickets are available at each Sunday service and at the office. Please remember to bring in canned goods and non perishables to fill our grocery cart for those in need. Hunger doesn t take a vacation.

8 SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE The Search Committee has had several productive meetings. The Holycow survey is available on-line at There are also printed copies of the survey available at church. The on-line survey is available until midnight Sunday, April 24, The paper copies must be in to the church by April 17, This allows plenty of time for someone on the Search Committee to input the data. If you would like to do the survey on a computer but don t have access to one, Carrie Widrick, Eileen Robertson and Sam Leitermann have volunteered to be available with laptops at church to assist you in completing the survey. You may contact Eileen at , Carrie at or Sam at to make an appointment. We have begun compiling potential questions for the rector candidates. This will be an ongoing item of business for each Search Committee meeting. If you have any suggestions for questions, please write them out and submit them to any member of the Search Committee. The members of the search are: Eileen Robertson, Milt Stevenson, Lori Erlenback, Diane Goldych, David Hoare, Carol Law, Sam Leitermann, Mary Lynch, Marie Tackman, Carrie Widrick and Jane Wiley. We have also assigned the ministries of the church to Search Committee members.
