The 81 st Annual Ukrainian Seminary Day has just concluded and I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the clergy, religious and faithful of our Deanery for the exemplary manner in which you responded to my call for help in bringing success to this Annual Event. Through all the months of preparation and planning, to the preparation of foods in your parishes, to the sales of raffle tickets, to the abundance of Theme Baskets, to the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, and to the dozens of volunteers who served food and beverages, to those who setup and cleaned-up the grounds, the spirit of sacrifice and dedication that makes this Deanery so special was abundantly evident. To continue the beautiful tradition of Ukrainian Seminary Day all these years takes much effort and requires much sacrifice. Above and beyond that, it requires a love for our church that comes from our hearts and motivates all of us to willingly make that sacrifice. I am privileged to serve as your Dean at this time in history. To witness and share such an enthusiastic love for God and our church, to gather twelve individual and unique parishes to work in unison for the support of our seminary, is a heartwarming and edifying experience for me. At this time we are in the process of totaling income and expenses in order to determine our final profit. At our wrap-up meeting on September 9 th at St. Michael s Hall in Frackville a complete report will be distributed and discussed. Once again, thank you thank you thank you and God Bless You! Fr. 4 Archbishop Soroka to Celebrate Divine Liturgy during Knights of Columbus Convention; Wednesday, August 5 Divine Liturgy will be Televised Live on EWTN beginning at 8 a.m. On Wednesday, August 5, 2015, Metropolitan Stefan Soroka will be the main celebrant and homilist at the Divine Liturgy during the 133 rd Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus. Responses will be sung by the choir of the Ukrainian Catholic National Shrine of the Holy Family, Washington, D.C. EWTN will televise this Divine Liturgy live beginning at 8 a.m. Summer Camp/Registration: Ss. Peter & Paul will be hosting their third annual Vacation Bible School Summer Camp, August 3 rd through August 7 th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. with lunch being served for all campers. The camp will be held at Assumption BVM Church grounds in Centralia. This year s theme is Hometown NAZARETH Where Jesus was a Kid. Everyone will get to explore the culture of Jesus boyhood. Information about camp and registration forms are available in the vestibule of our churches and the church office during normal church office hours. As an added treat, Wednesday, August 5 th, all of the children of our parish and all summer camp children are invited to join us at Knoebel s Grove for a light dinner of hot dogs, chips and a drink, as well as a hand stamp for all children. Catechist Day of Renewal: Our Deanery is sponsoring a Catechist Day of Renewal to honor and enrich the lives of those who give of their time and talent to educate the youth of our parishes. The Day of Renewal is scheduled for Saturday, September 5 th from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM at Holy Dormition Franciscan Friary in Sybertsville. The theme of the day is The Catechist: Using the Beatitudes to Lead. There will be two presentations, a time for discussion and sharing, as well as private time for prayer and renewal. Presentations will be made by Sr. Natalya and Mrs. Marie Nestor. The day will conclude with Divine Liturgy in the Friary Chapel for the intention of all our catechists which will fulfill your Sunday obligation. Lunch will be served as well as refreshments throughout the day. There is no charge for our catechists, but reservations must be made with your pastor by August 26 th. I sincerely hope all of you who currently, as well as in the past, help teach our youth will plan to attend. Safeguarding the Dignity of Every Human Person: Catechetical Sunday with commissioning of catechists in the parish will be held Saturday & Sunday, September 19 th & 20 th. Annual Wedding Anniversary Celebration: Sunday, September 13, 2015 Annual Wedding Anniversary Celebration will be held at the Golden-Domed Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Philadelphia, PA at 11:00 AM. Divine Liturgy followed by a banquet for the couples attending. Twenty-Fourth Annual Ukrainian Folk Festival: Sunday, August 23, at 12 noon: The Ukrainian American Sport Center Tryzub (County Line and Lower State Rds., Horsham, PA) invites you to attend the Twenty Fourth Annual Ukrainian Folk festival, celebrating Ukraine s Independence Day. Enjoy an outdoor concert of Ukrainian Folk and Modern Dance, Music and Song featuring: ISKR Ukrainian Dance Ensemble from Whippany, NJ; Voloshky Ukrainian Dance Ensemble from Jenkintown, PA; violinist Inessa Tymychko Dekajlo from Lviv, Ukraine; The Vox Ethnika Orchestra from New York; and the Prometheus Ukrainian Male Chorus from Philadelphia, PA. A Ukrainian Social Dance (Zabava) to the tunes of The Vox Ethnika Dance Band will follow the stage show. Very Special Thanks: Our parish family extends a sincere thank you to David McFee, Michael Timmins and Mt. Carmel High School students: Leah Nicola, Kelsi Wayne and Tucker Fegley for bringing down the chandeliers in church, cleaning and polishing them. They also dusted and polished the iconostas and altars. Everything looks absolutely fantastic and we re grateful for all their hard work. God Bless Them!!! More Thanks: Thank you to all our parishioners in both parishes for your support of Ukrainian Day. We had another very successful day bring faith, heritage and support of our seminary to the public. Thank you to all who helped make pyrohy, to those who baked all kinds of delicious goodies, to those who sold or purchased raffle tickets, to those who prepared the beautiful theme baskets. Special thanks are extended to all those who came to work at the picnic we had a good turnout of volunteers who labored very hard to fry and serve potato cakes, and who helped set-up and clean-up the grounds.
