Thank you! CCD Adult Education Info: Please note, catechism and adult education classes are held on Mondays from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM. Pysanky Classes: Classes are held Thursdays during Lent from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. We invite all parishioners and friends in the community to attend and participate. Rose will work with beginners, intermediate and people with advanced skills. The classes are free of charge, however you must bring along at least 2 uncooked eggs to work with. All ages are welcome, but anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Last class is March 17 th. Annual Easter Dinner: Our Parishes Annual Easter Dinner is scheduled for Sunday, April 3 rd beginning at 12:30 PM in the social hall of Ss. Peter & Paul Church. We cordially invite ALL families and members of both Assumption BVM and Ss. Peter & Paul Churches to come together to celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord in the very special and traditional way. Our very special guest speaker this year will be Msgr. James Melnic, a native of Frackville, PA and currently pastor of Protection of the Mother of God in McAdoo and St. Michael s in Hazleton. Tickets are available now in the vestibule of both churches and in the parish office. Melnic, Fr.Ivanov Holy Door For The Jubilee Of Mercy: As you know, our Holy Father has proclaimed this year to be a Jubilee Year of Mercy during which we are called to seek God s mercy in our lives and to show mercy to our brothers and sisters. As part of this spiritual year the Pope has requested all bishops to designate special Doors of Mercy throughout their respective dioceses wherein pilgrims and Christians can enter to seek the graces this Holy Year offers, through prayer, sacramental confessions of their sins, the worthy reception of the Holy Eucharist and a renewed dedication to the practice of mercy in their daily lives. Archbishop Stefan Soroka has named our Assumption BVM Church in Centralia, among others listed in his letter, to be one of these specia[ places. The Archbishop encourages all the faithful to try to visit one or more of these designated churches during the coming year to receive special graces. He has asked us and all pilgrims to spend time venerating the Jewel-covered 18 th Century Icon of Our Lady of Pochaiv which is now in our Church. We are honored to be among those Churches chosen and are in the process of scheduling special times when our church will be open, special times for confessions, special times for liturgical services. We are also preparing informational brochures to share with any and all pilgrims who visit our Church. I join with our Holy Father and our Archbishop in encouraging and welcoming all parishioners and all peoples to open their hearts to God s mercy, to share mercy in our lives and to obtain special graces by visiting one or more of the specially designated Churches. Inspiring Words from Pope Francis: We need to rediscover a contemplative spirit, so that the love of God may warm our hearts March 13: So Mercy Can Enter: God always loves us unconditionally because mercy is his very nature. Said another way, because God is love, God is mercy. We almost know the words by heart because we have so often heard John s story of the woman caught in adultery (JN 8:1-11): Has no one condemned you? She replied, No one, sir. Then Jesus said, Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin any more. However, Fr. Simeon, A Trappist monk at St. Joseph s Abbey in Spencer, MA, reminds us that we must open our heart so that the mercy of God can enter it and have its healing and life-giving effect there. Repenting of all our wrong doing makes us capable of receiving the mercy that God is always extending to us. The

4 Sacrament of Reconciliation can open the door to a new life, Pope Francis has said, as the merciful God enters our lives. During the Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Pope invites us Catholics to renew the grace of our Baptism by going to Confession often and with a contrite heart: The Churh teaches us to confess our sins with humility, because only in forgiveness, received and given, do our restless hearts find peace and joy. Our prayer today: Jesus, you saved the condemned woman from death by stoning. Through your boundless mercy save us who open our hearts to your life-giving love. Metropolitan Stefan will celebrate Holy Thursday Services Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Philadelphia, Thursday, March 24. All are invited to attend: On Holy Thursday March 24, Metropolitan Stefan Soroka, together with archieparchial priests will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. in the golden-domed Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Philadelphia, PA. This Divine Liturgy commemorates the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the Priesthood. At this Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Stefan will perform the traditional washing of the feet and the Holy Chrism will also be consecrated. All the faithful are invited and encouraged to attend this Divine Liturgy on Holy Thursday in our Cathedral in Philadelphia during this Jubilee Year of Mercy. Easter Egg Hunt: Ss. Peter & Paul/Assumption will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt for all the children of our parishes. The Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Palm Sunday, March 20 th, at 12:00 Noon at Ss. Peter & Paul Church Hall. A social will follow immediately after the egg hunt. Traditional Easter Dinners for Our Homebound Parishioners: The Altar Rosary Society will be preparing the Traditional Easter Dinner on Palm Sunday, March 20, 2016 to be delivered by the Holy Name Society to our homebound parishioners. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the Altar Rosary Society and the Holy Name Society for making this dinner possible. May God Bless you! Easter Offering: Please begin now putting aside a couple of dollars a week so that you can make an extra special offering to our churches on Easter Sunday. We ask each parishioner to consider making an Easter donation of at least $ Gifts of $50.00, $75.00, $ or more would be greatly appreciated. When we stop to consider the great gift of Jesus himself, the Son of God, it is easy for us to respond generously as we celebrate His Resurrection. Fasting Regulations: During the season of Lent we are to refrain from eating meat that day and every Friday of Lent and are encouraged to fast from meat on all Wednesdays of the Lenten season. All are asked to keep this discipline of the church. Altar Flowers: Altar Flowers can be sponsored weekly for $30.00 per arrangement.
