3 Religious Education Classes and Adult Discussion Group: Religious Education Classes or Adult Discussion Group sessions will resume on January 05, Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Ss. Peter & Paul Holy Name Society Championship Sunday Beef and Brew: The Holy Name Society will be holding a Beef and Brew again this year for the NFC championship Game on Sunday, January 18 1 \ The cost is $1 O/person and includes food and drink. Doors will open at 2:00 PM and the game begins at 3:00 PM. Tickets are available at the church office or from any Holy Name Society member. Please help support the Holy Name Society and have a good time with friends and fellow parishioners. New Bell Tower For Cathedral: The original Cathedral bell named "Stefan" in testimony to our first Ukrainian Catholic Bishop for all Eastern Catholics in USA, the Most Rev. Stephen Soter Ortynsky, OSBM, needs to be relocated from its present location. A new bell tower of our Cathedral is planned to accommodate the bell, to located to the right of our Cathedral. We welcome your financial donation for this memorial to the founding bishop, clergy, religious and faithful. It is an expression of our heartfelt appreciation for their planting the seeds of faith and the roots of our Ukrainian catholic Church in the USA. New Mosaics of Venerable Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky and Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska, SSMI For Cathedral: Two full sized mosaics of venerable Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky and Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska, SSMI will be installed in our Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Phila. In Spring, The ;mosaics will include a reliquary for relics of both Metropolitan Sheptysky and Blessed Josaphata for veneration by all. Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, is to visit Phila. In Sept., He has been invited to include a visit to our Cathedral during his short two day visit. In hopeful anticipation of such a visit, we have commissioned these mosaics for the Holy Father to bless. Please Pray for this! The mosaics have been prepared by our world renowned iconographer who has written most of the Cathedral's iconography, Christine Dochwat. The mosaics are being fabricated in Italy by the same firm which has done previous art work in our Cathedral. The cost for each will be approximately $35,000, which is very reasonable for such a significant project. Financial donation are invited from individuals and parishes for this project. Perhaps someone or a group may wish to fund one or both mosaics in memory of a loved one or for a special intention. Please remember the power of the intercession of the saints for our needs! 4 Theophany of Our Lord -Blessing of Water: The Blessing of Water will take place at the Assumption of the B.V.M., Sunday, January 4, 2015, after the 11 :00 AM Divine Liturgy. Vigil of Theophany of Our Lord and Blessing of Water at Ss. Peter & Paul Church will be celebrated on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 6:00 PM and Divine Liturgy at Assumption B.V.M. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 9:00 AM. This is a Holy Day of Obligation, please try to attend one of these Liturgies. Blessing of Homes: In the Ukrainian traditions, the priest blesses homes after the Feast of the Theophany. If you wish to have your home blessed, please complete the form below: 2015 Church Envelopes: 2015 Church Envelopes are now in the Church office. If you did not receive your envelopes, please call or come to the Church office during normal office hours. Every married couple or single person 18 years or over is to be registered and receive envelopes. To be considered a member of our parishes, Ss. Peter & Paul or Assumption B.V.M. Churches, regular attendance and use of church envelopes is required. If you are ill and/or aged let Father Michael know. The neglect of regular church attendance and regular use of church envelopes can lead to difficulties at the time of baptisms, weddings, funerals, etc. If you have used you 2014 envelopes faithfully, no action is needed. If you did not receive church envelopes for 2015 and would like to receive offering envelopes, please call the church office at during regular office hours. Ss. Amen Fasting Requirements: Please keep in mind that January 5, Epiphany Eve is traditionally a day of strict abstinence. No meat or dairy products are to be consumed until after the Holy Supper or celebration of the Epiphany Divine Liturgy and Blessing of Water. This fast is obligatory for all Ukrainian Catholics between the ages of 14 and 59 with the exception of those pregnant, on medication, or in ill-health. Next Pyrohy Sale: The Ss.
