Zastrow, Pastor Mary Sprick, Secretary ebenezerlutheranchurch.wordpress.com AS WE GATHER: When we think of saints, we likely picture well-known disciples, martyrs, and leaders of the Church throughout the years. Familiar names from the pages of Scripture come to mind such as Peter, John, and Paul the type of people we name churches after. Perhaps this is rightly so. After all, the Lord worked in the lives of these individuals in powerful ways. On All Saints Day, however, we also give thanks to God for unsung saints. We remember faithful Christian men and women whose names may not be known to the world but are known to us. We remember the names of mothers and fathers, friends and family, and fellow congregation members who bore witness to Christ through word and deed. We take time to rejoice that they are now in the nearer presence of the crucified and risen Savior they served while among us. PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP: O God of grace and mercy, we give thanks for Your loving kindness shown to all Your servants who, having finished their course in faith, now rest from their labors. Grant that we also may be faithful unto death and receive the crown of eternal life. Grant that, having been loved so richly by You, we would go and do likewise, loving our neighbor as ourselves; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Alleluia! OUR MISSION AND MINISTRY We welcome our members and guests who are here with us today. May the Lord refresh you with peace and love during our worship service on this All Saints Sunday (observed). Please join us here at Ebenezer again soon! Please sign the guest register near the front entrance with your name, address and Church affiliation. We express our Christian sympathy and prayers to the family Tom Shearman. Tom died in faith on Thursday, November 2 at his son s Mark s home in Weldon Spring. Funeral services will be Monday at Bopp Chapel, Manchester Road Kirkwood, Missouri at 11:00 AM. Internment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery following the service. We have pork sausage for sale in the freezer downstairs at $7.00 per package. Each package contains 10 links of sausage. You may put your payment in the collection plate or put it in the Church office. ENJOY! Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington will have their 74 th Annual Men s Club Pork Sausage and Sauerkraut Dinner TODAY. Serving starts at 11:00 AM and will be served family style until 3:30 PM. Cafeteria Style will be served from 4:00 PM 6:00 PM. Adults $10.00; Children (6-12) $5.00 and Children (5 & under) are free. 4

5 Campbellton School Veterans Program Please join the students at Campbellton School for the Veterans Program on Monday, November 7 th. Breakfast will be served starting at 7:30 AM. The Veterans Program will follow starting at 8:00 AM. Please join in this program as they recognize our Veterans. There are some small flyers on the table at the back of Church, that you can take home as a reminder! Decorating Church for Christmas On November 27 th we will be decorating the Church and dining hall for Christmas. Anyone who could take about an hour or hour and a half of time after Church that day to help would be greatly appreciated. We need some strong men to bring up the tree and set it up and to take the tree for the dining room down from upstairs. We also need some people to decorate the trees, (some men for the upstairs tree) and put up the window decorations and hang the wreaths. If you can help out, the job will go quickly. Many hands make light work. We will have a light lunch also. Your help will be appreciated! Thank you to all of you who have been directing your Choice Dollars from Thrivent to Ebenezer or anywhere else for that matter. It is money that needs to be directed by you, or it will be lost to you. If anyone has not been calling or directing it on line and needs help doing so, please let Karen Sprick know and something can be worked out to help you direct that money. YTD Thrivent Choice income $5,142. Please continue to save the Best Choice Labels. There is a box on the shelf in the kitchen for you to put them in. Thank you, Karen Sprick Our Mixed Choir will begin practice again on Wednesday, November 9 th at 7:00 PM. We will also practice again on November 23 rd. 5

6 Lutheran Family and Children s Services will have a Thanksgiving Food Drive. Proceeds will benefit lowincome families that work directly with Lutheran Family & Children s Services. Any leftover supplies will be donated to Loving Hearts Food Pantry. Lutheran Family & Children s Services is located at 15 S. Oak St. in Union, MO. The goal of this food drive is to provide low-income families with food items needed to cook a full Thanksgiving meal. Please only provide non-perishable items up until the week prior to Thanksgiving. All perishable items can be dropped off after Thursday, November 17 th. Please bring items and set them by the food table at the back of Church. We will take them to LFCS in Union. The following can be dropped off November 1 st 22 nd : Boxed stuffing mix, canned gravy, gravy mix packages, canned cranberry sauce, canned broth, pumpkin pie filling, brown sugar, marshmallows, canned sweet potatoes, canned green beans, canned corn, cream of chicken soup, French fried onions. Please drop off the following items November 17 th 22 nd ; pie crusts, milk, butter, potatoes (regular and sweet potatoes), biscuits/rolls. If you need more information or have questions, please call Leeann at or her at leeannp@lfcs.org Highlights of the October 17 th Voter s Meeting: The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Wilbert Baumann with 11 members present. Pastor Zastrow opened with a devotion based on Genesis 32. Pastor s Report indicated No Baptisms, Six Confirmations, One Marriage, No funerals, One Transfer to Ebenezer, No Transfers from Ebenezer. 6

7 Confirmation classes have started with four 7 th grade students. The Minutes of the July 11, 2016 meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer s Report was submitted and approved. Pastor reported that the morning Advent Services will be held in the dining hall like last year. The Services will be a service/devotion. The Trustees reported that the lights on the cross on the east side of the building have been fixed. They are also working to replace the light on the steeple that is burned out. The dining room outside doors are scheduled to be painted. The Stewardship report states that we will be keeping the salaries the same as last year. Motion carried by voice vote. The Sunday School Teachers/Education Committee reported that we had a very successful Vacation Bible School again this year. 5 area schools received 12 backpacks each plus other supplies. The Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner will be held the first Sunday in December. The Sunday School classes will again be performing the Christmas Eve service. There was no Evangelism Report. Other Business Mary Hiatt thanked the congregation for their support of her wedding. The meeting was adjourned and closed with the Lord s Prayer. Mark Kassebaum, Secretary Ebenezer s Thanksgiving Service will be held Wednesday, November 23 at 7:00 PM. During the service a collection will be taken by the Ebenezer Mission Society of non - perishable food items, household cleaning products and 7

8 personal hygiene goods to be given to the Leslie Food Pantry.
