Too often we trust in the promises of earthly rulers instead of the power of your love. Too often we see decisions made at work or in governments that are not consistent with your call for us to live peaceably together. We forget to pray to you and invite you into our lives to take control. Help us to turn our hearts toward you. Restore us in your love, and set us free to forgive as we have been forgiven, by the grace and mercy of Christ. Amen. *Assurance of Forgiveness 2

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. WORSHIP NOTES Today is Reign of Christ Sunday, which marks the last Sunday of the church (liturgical) year. Today celebrates the coming reign of Christ as King and the completion of the renewed creation that marks the fullness of the realm of God. That hope is born from the life of Jesus and his teachings that have been celebrated through the seasons of the church over the last twelve months. Next Sunday begins a new liturgical year with the season of Advent a season of hope and expectation as we look with anticipation to the birth of the Christ child. FPC ADVENT-URE The season of Advent is nearing, and with it is coming a special learning opportunity for all ages. For the first three Sundays in Advent (Dec. 3, 10, and 17), children, youth, and adults will have Sunday school together in the fellowship hall after worship. We ll be doing an adaptation of Las Posadas, a tradition from Mexico about Mary and Joseph seeking room in an inn on the night Jesus was born. There ll be music, conversation, and hands-on activities (and, of course, our usual fellowship snacks). MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDY NEWS We continue our study of 1 Thessalonians this Wednesday, Nov. 25. We meet at 5:45 p.m. in the parlor. Childcare is available (it will help to know ahead if you need it).
