We seek to know God's will, to walk in God's ways, and to proclaim the Gospel to all people, by our lives as well as by our words. We work and pray for the progress of knowledge, the promotion of justice, the reign of peace, and the realization of human unity in our time. And we look with faith for the triumph of righteousness in our community and in our world. Amen. WORSHIP NOTES The twelve days of Christmas have passed, and today we celebrate Epiphany. Today s anthem (hymn 127) uses a familiar text paired with a refrain by George D. Elderkin, who is also credited for the melody. His arrangement was first published in 1890, and was most likely taken from oral tradition which evolved during the camp meeting era. The present arrangement preserves the contours of Elderkin s setting, with a gospel influence in the piano accompaniment and vocal phrasing. Following our ritual of the last few years, a star word will be given to each of you in worship, along with the invitation to reflect on what that word means to you for the coming year and how God might speak to you through it. NEW YEAR, NEW LIFE As we welcome a new year, Anne and Kent Campbell prepare to welcome a baby girl in February. Help us celebrate with them on Sunday, Jan. 14, There will be cake and punch in the fellowship hall after worship that morning. FPC youth group Star Wars night Youth grades 4-12 (and friends) will meet tonight from 5:30-7:00 p.m. We ll share a snack supper, games, and a cool lesson.
