1 W hy Did Jesus Have To Die? Answered By: Shane Robinson August 31, 2014 The short answer to our question is Jesus had to die because God promised death would occur when sin took place in the garden (Genesis 2:15-17). When Adam ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he was under the sentence of death. Instead of putting Adam to death and exterminating the human race, God accepted the death of someone or something else in his place. Before punishing Adam and Eve, God cursed the serpent. God promised a male child would come from woman and eventually crush the serpent (3:14-15). Jesus was the only person who could meet the qualifications of a valid substitutionary sacrifice. He was of the same human nature as sinners (Philippians 2:5-8), yet He was without sin (1 Peter 1:18-19; 2:21-24). Jesus was not forced to die in the place of sinners; rather He chose to die on His own accord (John 10:11-18; 19:30-36). Through His death, the Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53). Jesus was the only way God could save man (see Hebrews 2:14-18). To suggest God could have saved man in any other way would suggest imperfection. God s plan was and is perfect; it could have been implemented no other way (Revelation 13:8; 1 Peter 1:20; Titus 1:2; Acts 4:28). As we contemplate our question one more time, we must understand the reality that Jesus did not have to die. A careful study of the Scriptures makes one thing absolutely clear God s effort on behalf of sinners was and is the result of pure love (John 3:15-17; Romans 5:6-10). Thanks be unto God, for His unspeakable gift!

2 The Lesson of the Ants - Arthur Peterson Several missionaries were having tea one afternoon, when an ant appeared on the white tablecloth, made its way to a tea cake, walked around it, and finding nothing to eat, made straight for the sugar bowl. After eating several bits, it went off with a small piece. They watched it disappear underneath the door. It soon returned with several of its relations. They climbed the table leg, entered the sugar bowl, and ate their fill. They then departed, each with a piece of sugar in its mouth. But it did not end there - presently a swarm of ants arrived to partake of the same sweet food. These ants teach us a great lesson. The first went and told others the good news, who, in turn, went and told the glad story to many more. Like Isaiah, the demoniac, the woman of Samaria, and others, we must go and tell the glad story of God's redeeming love! Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy (Psalm 107:2).
