3 Good morning! David says this in Psalm 19, May the words of my mouth and meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. May the words and mediations offered here this morning be sincere because of faith and acceptable because of grace as we encounter the living God. Let us worship in spirit and in truth. This morning Pastor Michael will continue in his series on the 5 Solas of the Reformation as we read Romans 4 and consider Sola Gratia Grace Alone. Next week the series will conclude with Romans 6 and Soli Deo Gloria -- to God Alone be the Glory. Next week, we have the privilege of concluding the sermon series at the Lord s Table. As we anticipate celebrating communion, take some time and call to mind the grace of Jesus Christ and our need for it. Use this week to pray, confess, and seek God s face as next Sunday he will meet us where we are in the bread and juice. Pastor Michael s sermon discussion class will take place in the Fireside Room during the Sunday School hour. All are welcome, as are your questions, comments, and insights. Your offering next Sunday, October 8 will be received for the Benevolent Fund. On October 15, your offering will be received for the Building Fund, October 22, GAP (Guatemala) and October 29 for the Food Resource Bank Thank you for your gifts offered last week, September 25. The General Fund total was $7,186. The offering for the Milaca Area Food Pantry was $1,308. Our Church Family Congratulations to Richard Clark who will be celebrating his 81st birthday on Tuesday, October 3. Flowers have been placed in the front of the sanctuary this morning by Gert Kiel and family to commemorate the passing of Jim Kiel, five years ago, October 2. Please pray for Harlin Hanenburg as he is scheduled to undergo treatment from bladder cancer on Monday, October 9 th.

4 Please continue to keep the family and loved ones of Kathryn Timmer, Darlene Rubingh, and Gerald Kragt in your prayers as they mourn their losses. Congratulations to Jerad and Michelle (Daddario) Sikkink who were united in marriage yesterday in Duluth, MN. We wish them God s richest blessings as they begin their married life. It's not too late to join us for our fall Women's Bible Study! Our second session is tomorrow evening, Monday, October 2 at 6:30pm in the Fireside Room. We are studying Priscilla Shirer's Bible Study, Discerning the Voice of God. Through the sessions on Monday evenings, we will discover the depth to clearly and daily communication with God - humble obedience. We will learn how surrender unlocks His many blessings intended for us, centers us in His will, and helps us discern His voice in everyday life. Group discussion will be followed by the teaching video. If you have any questions, please contact Jamie Manke ( ) or Myra Minks ( ). GAP Deadline! Thank you to those that have shown interest in joining the GAP team this year, and to those who continue to support this outreach! Today is the deadline for anyone who would like to join the 2018 trip. Please see Pastor Michael or Julie Goslinga today if you would like to be added to the list. Please continue to pray for this project this week as we finalize this year's team and being the planning process. Men s Timeout is happening! This Saturday, October 7 at 8:00. All men and boys are invited for devotions, breakfast, and a speaker. Father s, this is a great thing to do with your sons! It s only an hour and a great way to start your Saturday. There will be a special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, October 15 th to learn about and vote on a new position Associate Pastor of Youth and Discipleship that the search team has brought forward and the council has endorsed. The job description will be available in your mailboxes next Sunday. Kidz Club will not be meeting on October 8th. We will resume again on October 22nd from 4-6pm. See you there!

5 Parents of College Students : We need your help! Please give your son or daughter s mailing address to Anita. You can it to peasecrc@frontiernet.net or drop it off at the church office by October 8. Attention Grandma's and Grandpa's, Aunt's and Uncle's: Additional adult workers are needed in the Church Nursery! We need grandparents that can hold babies while sitting in the rocking chair or read books to the older children. So, don't worry if you cannot play on the floor. There is always 2 adults in the nursery and 2 youth helpers so someone else can play on the floor. We are also willing to accept helpers that are only available in the summer or winter months. Please contact Carrie Luckhurst ( ) or Michelle Schluender ( ) if you are willing to help out. Keep in mind that you need to complete the safe church training to be a helper in nursery. The apples are peeled.it s time to MAKE THE PIES!!!! The first 4 Tuesdays in October the kitchen and fellowship hall will be transformed into the most efficient pie making factory you ve ever seen! If you ve never witnessed it, you really should! There will be 2 shifts each Tuesday and at the end of each day 300 pies will be in the freezer! (YES, that s 1200 total pies!) This week shift one will be 1:00pm until approximately 4:00pm with shift two starting at 5:00pm until everything is cleaned up (probably around 8pm). If you can come for any or all of this time, your help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!! We ve heard people say they aren t able to be there to make the pies but want to help somehow..there are several ways to do that! Buying pies, selling pies to friends, co-workers and/or neighbors, or and this is very important.bringing treats for our pie makers!!! We do let them have breaks! If this Tuesday doesn t work for you, there will be 3 more! The times of the shifts may vary so check the bulletin each week. A HUGE thank you to all who helped pick and peel apples and those who shared their crop with us. God has once again blessed this project with a bountiful harvest of apples! "NO WORK" Fundraising for Community Christian School: Teal s Milaca Market gives back 1% of all purchases made at their store and from NOW until the end of the year, they will give CCS 2% back! Please save your Teal's receipts and turn them in to the office at CCS or leave in Amy Banks' mailbox at church.
