4 WELCOME! Today we give thanks to God for fathers. Having a Christian father is really a wonderful gift from the Lord. How blessed to have a father who loves us and gives us leadership in the ways of the Lord. On this special day each of us as fathers are called to dedicate ourselves anew to the loving direction-setters God wants us to be in our family. PARABLES-Pastor Michael begins a summertime series on the Parables of Jesus today. This morning s message is based on Mark 4, The Parable of the Sower, which gets us into what parables are and what their purpose is. Next week, Mr. Timothy Kooiman will be bringing the Word to us. SERVE-Nick and Nicole will be driving eight of our youth to Grand Rapids, MI this week leaving on Thursday, June 19, and returning on Saturday, June 28. Today, we commission them in their call, by God, to serve others. Please pray for the ten going, the host church, LaGrave CRC, and those impacted by God's calling. VOTING MEMBERS-After the service this morning we will be having a short congregational meeting to vote on the proposed parsonage garage. Please plan to stay in the sanctuary following the service unless you need to leave or to get children from Nursery or Children s Worship. The proposal reads as follows: The council has recommended the removal of the parsonage garage and replacing it with a new three-stall garage at a cost of $40,000 -$50,000. $35,000 of which would come from monies received as part of an insurance settlement with DuPont Corporation reimbursing us for several trees that were killed on the parsonage grounds following the application of a lawn chemical. Please be in prayer for those who are considering nominations to serve in the office of elder and deacon asking the Holy Spirit to help them discern God s will. Your offering next Sunday, June 22, will be received for the Benevolent Fund. Our Church Family We extend our Christian sympathy to Maynard Smith and his family as Maynard s wife, Fannie, passed away last Friday. Her funeral was this past Wednesday in our church.

5 Please continue to keep Adeline Nobel and her family in your prayers and she was transferred to the Milaca Elim Home this week to continue her recovery for a broken neck. Congratulations to the following congregational members observing special days this week: Esther Ruis is celebrating her 86th birthday today, June 15 Harlin & Lois Hanenburg will be observing their 56th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, June 18 Pete & Betty De Boer are observing their 51st wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 21 Youth Group will have it's end of year BBQ at Dick Baas Park this Wednesday, June 18, at 6:00 p.m. You will be contacted on what to bring. Nick Hoffman We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you, family and friends, for your acts of kindness during the illness and death of our beloved wife and mother, Sandy Vedders. We thank Pastor Michael for his visits and words of comfort. Your expressions of sympathy, prayers, meals, memorials and flowers were greatly appreciated. Maynard Smith and family Pease Bunch for Lunch group will eat together at the Milaca High Rise Apartments this Wednesday, June 18, at 11:15 a.m. The menu will include: Pork Roast, Potatoes with Gravy, Broccoli Salad, Wheat Bread and Sweetened Strawberries. Jim Kiel Fish Launch-this Friday, June 20. A few spots remain. Call the office if you d like to go. Bill Ruis will be collecting money after worship this morning. The bus leaves church at 4:15 and the launch leaves at 6:00.

8 The 2014 SYNOD began meeting this past Thursday in Pella, IA. Please pray for the delegates and the discussions that will take place. The delegates from Classis Lake Superior are: Pastor Archie Vander Hart, Pastor Joe Hamilton, and Elder Linda Ribbens. Pray that the Holy Spirit will equip the delegates to serve in faith and obedience and will lead the Christian Reformed Church into new and challenging areas of ministry. May we together experience the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace as we strive to know and to do the will of the Lord.
