2 WELCOME to WORSHIP If you are a first time visitor at Shepherd of the Hills, we ask that you fill out a visitor card which can be found in the pews or on the usher counters in the narthex. Please put the card in the offering basket or give to the Welcome Center attendant. If you have no church home, we invite you to make Shepherd of the Hills your permanent place of worship, learning and service. All are welcome to come forward at the direction of the ushers to receive a wafer and an individual cup of wine/grape juice. If you need a gluten free wafer, please let the communion server know when you come forward. Children who do not yet take communion are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing. 3 LENTEN WORSHIP615: The Five Solas of the Lutheran Faith. These solas are more easily understood as the five essentials things that stand as pillars of the Christian faith. March 13: Grace Alone (Sola Gratia) March 20: Scripture/Word Alone (Sola Scriptura) March 27: Faith Alone (Sola Fide) Faith in who? Faith in what? Jesus, obviously. Romans 5: 1 says, "Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." But what does that actually mean for our everyday lives? Join us Wednesday as we dive in to this. Be sure to grab a bag in the narthex, on Sunday, to fill up and bring back for Ralph Reeder! March 27: SHEPHERD SUPPER: Chicken Noodle and Turkey Chili Soups MARCH 30: ANNUAL VARIETY SHOW 6:30 PM This year our Variety show will include the talent show portion along with dessert snacks available during intermission. This event is not a fundraiser for 2019, but instead a free community event. Be sure to invite all our friends, neighbors, and family. ARPIL 1: PIZZA RANCH FUNDRAISER 4:00-8:00 PM All funds raised will go directly to the youth summer mission trip APRIL 7: FIRST COMMUNION CLASS 11:15 AM - 2:00 PM Lunch will be provided. Please contact Pastor Brice or Jilene Ylonen with questions. APRIL 13: TRUE LIGHT KOREAN CHURCH: AN EVENING OF MUSIC FUNDRAISER 7:00 PM Please join talented members of True Light of the Lord Church in a musical presentation. They will be presenting traditional, classical and contemporary music. This event is a fundraiser to pay for a new heating and air conditioning system for Mission Chapel. Your support is much appreciated. There is no ticket price for this, just a free-will donation. This will take place in the main sanctuary, so there is plenty of room for you to invite your friends and family to attend. APRIL 14: ANNUAL PALM SUNDAY PANCAKE BREAKFAST Please join us on Palm Sunday, April 14, for Shepherd's annual pancake breakfast. We will be serving from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Your energetic breakfast hosts will be youth, leaders and family members of those going on 2019 summer mission trip to Chicago, IL. The free will offering for breakfast will help support participant trip costs. Thank you, as always, for your support and please invite your friends and family to join us for worship at 8:30 am and 10:00 am and a delicious breakfast. APRIL 28: SPRING DAY OF SERVICE Save the date and invite someone to join us. Our Spring Day of Services is fast approaching. ONE worship at 10am followed by a potluck dinner. Bring your dish by Last Names. A - G- Desserts, H - M Salad or Side Dish and N - Z Hotdish or Main Course. After which we will have many service project opportunities, sign up in the Narthex. This year we are looking to hold a drive during the months leading up to our Day of Service for particular projects that we will be holding. During the month of MARCH our drive will be focused on Bridging Project-Collecting kitchen utensils. You can place items in the bin in the Narthex labeled Day of Service.
