It might be natural to wonder if Jesus, in giving him the keys to the kingdom, didn t feel a bit like a parent giving a teenager the keys to the family car. But it was at the moment when God s power and presence broke through everything else to raise up Peter s great profession of faith in Christ as Messiah that Jesus chose to establish the bond between the loving, forgiving mercy of heaven and our vocation to be witnesses of that love, mercy, and forgiveness on earth. Like any parent, Jesus no doubt foresaw the failings, the irresponsible maneuvers or impaired senses, the collisions that the church would be headed for. But, most importantly, he also saw us at that moment as God prefers to see us: capable of manifesting great faith, with a willingness to remain at the feet of Christ to understand what it truly means to be Messiah and Christ. As the letter to the Romans points out to us today, we have not known the mind or the wisdom of God, but God knows us and still chooses to manifest the reign of justice, joy, beauty, and peace through us. Let this be our vocation. Let us always strive to be solid ground on which the church of Jesus Christ can be founded and on which it can continue to be built. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. 3rd ANNUAL MINISTRY FAIR TODAY Join us today after all the Morning Masses. Our Parish will come alive with people from all our ministries. We have over 25 active ministries which all contribute to the social and spiritual aspect of St. Frances Cabrini! There is one just right for you to join and become a part of the growth of this thriving parish. Most only involve 2-4 hours a month of your time! There will be booths, sign ups, food and a Door Prize drawing at each booth! There will even be a special sign up table for kids! Confessions will be heard in the church at 7:30pm, First Friday, September 1st. The parish office will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4th in observance of the Memorial Day weekend. There will be much traffic out there so please be careful and remember to look out for your fellow motorists and please look twice for the motorcyclists that will be sharing the road with you.

This support allows us to offer the benefits of an SFC education to as many children and families as possible. If you would like more information about how you can help SFC School financially, please contact Development Director, Blanche Khoshaba at ext Father John Ngpabia, Pro- Life Priest from Africa will be giving a talk in SFC s Parish Center, 6pm - 7pm. All ages welcome, refreshments provided. Father John and his small team in Africa have saved hundreds of lives of babies. LifeSiteNews, the online pro -life publication ran a story about the beginnings of this ministry in 2014, and the St. Juan Diego Women s Center here in San Jose supports and funds the Women s Pregnancy Center, St. Bakhita Parish. We support the women by teaching them trades, funding their small businesses, and helping them to earn money for their fledgling families. He has come all the way from Africa to the United States, to speak to parishes and bring the world s the attention to the 15 years of illegal chemical abortions ravaging his nation. Abortion is illegal in that country in spite of the fact that the country s constitution protects person s inherent right to life. ALPHA is a 10-week program that touches on and explores different topics of the Christian faith. Topics include, "Who is Jesus?", "Why and how should I read the Bible?", and "How does God guide us?" In this day and age, there are many people questioning their Christian faith, and others choose not to have faith in God at all.
