We have tasted the excitement and zeal of the first Christians. Now, with them, we listen to the words of Saint Peter, who reminds us that when people notice that we are people of hope, we should be ready to explain why. This challenges us. Do others even notice that we are people of hope? In a world often marked by cynicism and hopelessness, do we stand out as people who offer hope and reassurance to others? In today s Gospel Jesus promises that when he leaves the earth he will not leave us orphaned. Today he promises to send his Advocate, the Spirit of truth who will be with us always. Yet, one can find comfort and hope in sharing your story, hearing others, and companioning each other in the wilderness of grief from death by suicide. You are not alone. Join others in Out of the Wilderness, a suicide bereavement support group for those who have experienced the death of a loved one by suicide. The group is open to anyone who has experienced grief from loss by suicide. There is no charge. We ask only that you make a commitment to attend the four-week session. We also request that before joining the group, you call Leah Harris, Director of Pastoral Care, Holy Spirit Church, 408/ Leah can answer your questions, explain the format, and help you decide if Out of the Wilderness will be a healing place for you. Also known as America s Catholic Church, the National Shrine has been a century in the making, built by and for the faithful of our great nation in honor of our Blessed Mother, the patroness of the United States. St. Vincent de Paul Benefit Luncheon June 11:00 am - 3:00 pm St. Vincent de Paul will be hosting a benefit event to raise funds in support of their mission to help the under- served and underprivileged in Santa Clara County. The event will consist of a catered luncheon, raffle for premium items, and a silent auction. In addition, attendees are able to bring in Antique items for and Evaluation by Steve Yvaska, Antiques Columnist for the Mercury News. The catered Benefit Luncheon will be held on Saturday, June 24th, 2017 from 11AM 3PM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church 219 Bean Ave, Los Gatos Cost for the event is $75/person (includes lunch and one raffle ticket) with all proceeds supporting the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Santa Clara County. Tickets are limited to 100 for this event. Due to time involved in the evaluation of items we ask that you limit one item per ticket/ family. In addition you will have the option of purchasing additional raffle tickets and participating in our silent auction. For additional details you can call the Council office at or visit the website at luncheon-and-antique-evaluation-fundraiser/. All reservations must be made by Saturday, June 10th. If you are unable to attend and would still like to show your support you can make a donation by clicking on the Give Now Tab at **Parish Office closed this Thursday** The Parish Office will be CLOSED this Thursday, May 25th to allow for the parish office staff and our Greeters to come together for a discussion on how to best serve our parish community. Better Choices, Better Health is a self-management program offered for 6 weeks by 2 trained leaders from your community.
