3 The Ministry of Reading at Mass In the readings God speaks to his people, opening up to them the mystery of redemption and salvation, and offering them spiritual nourishment; and Christ himself is present in the midst of the faithful through his word. Is the Lord calling you to this ministry? Pray about it. The thought may scare you, but think how the thought of being called to the priesthood scared Fr Gerry! It tells the story of the Prisoner of War camp in Colchester during the Second World War which, among other things, housed a Catholic seminary for captured students for the priesthood who had been serving in the German army. There is a chapter devoted to the seminary and to the links with the local Catholic community in Colchester. Boys should be between 8 and 10 years ideally, although we would be happy to audition boys from as young as 7 years and up to the age of 12 years depending on their singing ability.
