1 The Parish of St Teresa of the Child Jesus Rochford & St Pius X Hockley Parish Priest: Fr Gerry Drummond MA 109 Ashingdon Road, Rochford, SS4 1RF / frgerry@talktalk.net The Solemnity of All Saints. Remembering saints and martyrs and dedicating a specific day to them each year has been a Christian tradition since the 4th century AD, but it wasn't until 609AD that Pope Boniface IV decided to remember all martyrs. Originally May 13th was designated as the Feast of All Holy Martyrs. Later, in 837AD, Pope Gregory IV extended the festival to remember all the saints, changed its name to Feast of All Saints and changed the date to November 1st. We celebrate today the solemnity of All Saints. This invites us to turn our gaze to the immense multitude of those who have already reached the blessed land, and points us on the path that will lead us to that destination. Pope John Paul II, All Saints' Day 2003 What s On Coffee Morning and Raffle this Sunday St Teresa's Baby and Toddler Group would like to invite you all to join us in the parish centre for a coffee morning and raffle following Sundays 10:30am Mass. We are hoping to raise funds to build a new fence at the back of the parish centre. This will enclose the patio area and make a safe area for the little ones to play outside. Come along for a coffee and a chat. The Baby & Toddler Group meets next in the Parish Centre after the 9.20 Mass on Wednesday: 9.45am to 12pm during term time. Everyone very welcome. The Legion of Mary: working and praying for the Kingdom of God in our Parish. Everyone is most welcome to the 5.30pm meeting in the Parish Centre - new members always welcome.
