1 The Monthly Messenger A Note From The Pastor... We're on a mission!!! Ready to work together as a team, with an attitude of love, through understanding each other better, moved to Christ-like actions, by the power of the Holy Spirit in thought, word and deed. WOW...what a challenge... We can't do it alone!!! We need the support, love and prayers of one another and the entire body of Christ in this place, because it takes a congregation. We truly are laborers together with Jesus Christ. Sooo...the mission can be accomplished, because we CAN DO ALL THINGS through Christ who empowers us and gives us the abilities and strength to do "Whatever It Takes" and complete what God has already begun and prepared for us to do So, if we remain faithful, continue to make ourselves available, keep pressing on toward the goal and don t quit, God will use us to do great things for His kingdom here in this place Dalton United Methodist Church JULY 2017 Finally, continue to be in prayer for God s will to be done here as in Heaven as we continue on the path He has and is preparing for us to make Disciples here in our community and everywhere He calls us to be His witnesses. Wednesday, July 19th The Village Green Park Celebrate Dylan's graduation with us! The party will be held in the Connection Cafe at Living Water Church. The Ohio Region chapter of the Studebaker Driver's Club will be displaying some of their classic cars for all to enjoy. (If you have a classic car of your own, feel free to drive it and add to the show!) Sandwiches and munchies will be served. Issue 7 Hot Dogs, Sloppy Joes and drinks will be provided, and there will be lots of fun things for the kids to do. Page 3

4 MISSIONS NEWS Help us minister to those in need. Elijah s Cupboard can always use non-perishable food items for The Salvation Army. Please bring an item or two with you and place them in the good cupboard in the hallway. We also continue to collect labels for the Red Bird Mission. -Labels include "General Mills Boxtops for Education"; and "Tyson Project A+ Labels for Education". A collection envelope for the labels is located on the bulletin board, in the narthex of the Church. Please consider donating today! -Canton Calvary Missions food collections for JULY is: Soup this can be placed in the large basket in the narthex. Thank you for the continued support ~ Missions Committee ******************************************************************************************** Lincoln Highway, Buy-Way Yard Sale August 10 and pm....the Missions Committee will have a luncheon Thursday and Friday during the Highway Buy-Way sale. This sale and luncheon generates funds for Mission projects through out the year. Donations of food would be appreciated. Such as: cookies, brownies, and, cupcakes (baked items will be sold individually) Bottled water, pop, vegetables, and fruit. Items need to be in the Church kitchen by August 9. 6 News from the United Methodist Women The UMW are in the summer mode. When vacations are over, we will be getting together to plan the fall schedule. One thing we will be making vegetable soup for the shut-ins. When we had the breakfast meeting earlier in the year, everyone wanted to continue making the soup. I am sure the shut-ins will appreciate the UMW giving of themselves for this project once again. From the feedback we received from the past years we know it was greatly appreciated. We will be letting you know what time and date later. I have been trying to decide what to write about this month and for a long while I was at a lost. After talking to Marie Septer at the green house I realized I do have two stories to tell you. These are two stories about how God can work in someone s life. For some time the church congregation and the Bible Study group has been praying for Marie s husband, Dave. Talking to Marie I found out how God intervened in their lives. Marie s daughter, April, started working at PBS in Massillon not very long before the whole story started. I must back track a little because last year Dave and Marie lost their beloved dog, Sadie. Their kids all thought they needed another Lab because the whole family missed having a dog. So they surprised them with a pup, Bella. Now that is why Dave and Marie stopped by PBS. They wanted to see April and get some dog food. Dave stayed in the car because he just wasn t feeling very well. Marie went in and got the dog food and April helped her to the car and to say HI to her dad. They noticed Dave s lips were blue and they were both alarmed. April told Marie she better get to the hospital. Marie drove directly to Affinity and that is where Dave stayed. Between the hospital and rehab he was there for months. Marie says if April wouldn t have taken a new job at PBS, if the kids wouldn t have gotten them the new pup, if they wouldn t have needed dog food and they would have just have gone home the story might have had a different ending. Dave is now home and doing great! This ending happened Marie believes because God put everything in place and millions of prayers. They both appreciate everyone caring and praying for them and all the help they received. She said without so many hands helping the green house would have never been able to open this year. God does hear prayers and answers them, Marie said. Now the second story is mine. As many of you know I have been fighting Lyme disease for many years. My health was not improving and I was getting worse not better as I had hoped. God started working through Don s cousin, Fran. She told a couple in their church about me having Lyme. They happened to know another couple from Sugar Creek who lay hands on and pray for healing. We met with them one evening and they all prayed for me. The last thing the gentleman said was, I don t know when or how God will heal you but he will. The next day Don and I traveled to Hermitage, Pennsylvania for my appointment with the doctor who was treating me for the Lyme. We went a day before my appointment so we could take time to visit the green house in Hermitage. They have a fabulous display to walk through at Christmas time and then again at Easter. We were going to see the Easter display at that time. I will add if you get the chance to go to see both displays do so. I guarantee you will enjoy them! Back to my story. We stayed at a motel on Wednesday night and they serve supper to their guests. Don had left the table to get us a beverage and a couple past by and said, Hello to me. We talked a little and we exchanged why we were there and where we were from. They were from Chicago and traveling to New Jersey to visit family. They went and sat on the other side of the room to have supper. Don then came back at the same time a lady walked by with her meal and she seemed very alone. I asked her to join us. She said, Really? I said yes because we had an extra chair and I loved to meet new people. It was a right decision because we had a wonderful time getting to know one another. While we were eating, the first couple Page 6 The Monthly Messenger

7 stopped by the table and asked if they could talk to us when we were finished. After we finished, we did join them at their table. We were so surprised at what they had to tell us. Their names are Kathy and Craig Kalck. Craig started telling us about his brother, Fred, who had had Lyme. When they had gone to their table to eat supper, they called Fred to make sure they had his story correct and if it was all right to tell us about him. Well, Kathy and Craig relayed the story of Fred s ordeals with Lyme to us. He had done everything for treatments like I had been doing and not getting better. He, as a last ditch effort, went to a Chiropractor, Dr. Lipton, in West Chester, PA who treats with herbal and natural supplements. West Chester is around nine hours from us. Craig also gave us Fred s phone number so we could call him after we returned home. Craig told us Fred has had a recovery from Lyme by following Dr. Lipton s treatments. After speaking to Fred, we thought what have I got to lose so we called Dr. Lipton s office. We talked to a very nice person there and she suggested she might find another Chiropractor closer to us who treated the same as Dr. Lipton. The next day she returned our call and wondered how close Dover was to us? Wow! That was a lot closer than West Chester! We did call that doctor, Dr. Perduk, in Dover. His receptionist was very helpful and listened to our story. She took Dr. Lipton s number and Dr. Perduk called him to make sure they did treat the same way knowing they had the same schooling. Well, they do and the receptionist called us again letting us know so we made an appointment. Dr. Perduk believes in treating the whole body. He tested me and made suggestions for natural supplements and diet changes. Dr. Perduk even contacted a colleague in Cincinnati whose wife has Lyme and another Michigan colleague who agreed Dr.Perduk should ex-ray my hips and back. On a following appointment he did say as a Chiropractor he just did not like my gate. He suggested taking ex-rays of my hips and back. We agreed and after seeing the ex-rays he could see my hips were bone on bone and my back was a concern. Dr. Perduk called and got us an appointment ASAP at Spectrum with the back surgeon, Dr. Candage. He said the hips would need to be done first because they are so bad. Thank heavens for Dr. Dulik because he is going to do just that in July. Of course that will be one hip at a time. When I had my knee replaced in 2013, Dr. Dulik checked my hips and they were fine. My Lyme doctor said I no doubt had arthritis but the Lyme helped speed everything up and I got to this point a lot quicker than I should have or at all. I hope you see in my story how God is working. Don and I both believe after the people prayed for me God started setting up His plan to heal me. Doesn t it just give you goose bumps to think how God works? Maybe that isn t the right way to say it but it just overwhelms me to think what he is doing for me. I am thankful from the bottom of my heart for everyone who has prayed for me and for God hearing those prayers. If you have any stories about how God has worked in your life, let me know and we can put it in a later newsletter. We need to share how many miracles God has done.
