1 The Monthly Messenger A Note From The Pastor... Once again, we are beginning a season of change. Very soon, God will finger paint the landscape with beautiful fall colors. We will need to change our clocks back one hour because of daylight savings time and will be able to catch an extra hour of rest or potentially stay up an extra hour. Actually, come to think of it, change is really happening all around us all the time. You see God is continually doing a new thing. In Ohio we experience it through the four seasons of the year. We go from Winter to Spring to Summer to Fall and back to Winter. We also experience seasons in our lives as well. We are born, develop through childhood, mature through our teenage & adolescent years and blossom into adulthood and hopefully gain wisdom along the journey. Of this is our physical journey of change. We also experience a Spiritual journey of change throughout our lives. As I stated previously here, God is continually doing a new thing. This happens through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Lord is continually transforming our lives to be more like Jesus. Sometimes we have epic mountain top experiences. Other times we experience storms in our lives that draw us closer to the Lord. However, even when we don t understand how, God somehow uses all this to make us into the new creation that we need to be. Dalton United Methodist Church OCTOBER 2018 Just like Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, we need to make preparations in our lives for these changes. The best advice I know to give for this transformation is: Read & study God s Word Pray Have fellowship with other believers God Bless, Pastor Dave

Andy is a Senior Music Major student at Malone University and is currently student teaching in the music classes at Orrville Elementary School. Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation. (Isaiah 25:9 NIV) Page 2 The Monthly Messenger

3 ABOUT OUR MEMBERS... MISSIONS NEWS Help us minister to those in need. Elijah s Cupboard can always use non-perishable food items for The Salvation Army. Please bring an item or two with you and place them in the good cupboard in the hallway. We also continue to collect labels for the Red Bird Mission. -Labels include: "General Mills Boxtops for Education"; and "Tyson Project A+ Labels for Education". A collection envelope for the labels is located on the bulletin board, in the narthex of the Church. Please consider donating today! -Canton Calvary Missions food collections for OCTOBER is: Spaghetti Sauce this can be placed in the large basket in the narthex. 6 News from the United Methodist Church LITURGIST CHILDREN S CHAT For those interested in being liturgist or leading Children s Chat for the Worship Services this Fall, there is a sign-up sheet located on the Church Office door. Please consider serving in one or both of these very important ministries. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Trick-or-Treat & Bible Booths As in the past, we will be collecting full-size candy bars to give out for Trick-or-Treat as well as small candy items for the Bible Booths. Please place your candy in the donation box outside the Church Office. The Village of Dalton will be holding Trick-or Treat on Sunday, October 28, from 2:00-4:00pm. Volunteers for the Bible Booths are needed from 1:00-5:00pm. (which includes set-up and take down).
