1 The Monthly Messenger A Note From The Pastor... Rudy Thomas tells a story about an old scrubwoman in London who became ill. She was very poor and her friends pooled their resources and sent her to the hospital. During her convalescence, she visited other patients up and down the hall. Across the hall from her room was a twelve year old boy who was critically ill. The old lady and young boy would talk for long periods each day. Early one morning, the scrubwoman was awakened by the boy s mother who said, The doctors say Johnny has about ten minutes to live. Won t you say something to him? That was no easy assignment, but that woman, with the courage and faith of a saint, walked into that room and sat beside the dying boy. She took his hands between her calloused palms and said to him, Listen, Johnny, God made you. God loves you. God sent his Son to save you. God wants you to come home to live with Him. The little boy propped himself up on his elbow and with a feeble voice said, Say it again say it again! Quietly, the woman once again said, God made you, Johnny, and God loves you. God sent his Son to save you. God wants you to come home to live with Him. Johnny looked into the kindly face of his friend, and said Tell God, Thank you! Friends, our Lenten journey for 2014 is near completion. In the next few days we will welcome Jesus with palm branches, celebrate and remember his last supper with the disciples, crucify him on a cross, place him in a cold and empty tomb, only to celebrate God s power of resurrection on Easter morning! This is THE time for the church, the time when the foundation of our Dalton United Methodist Church APRIL 2014 being is remembered and celebrated. Over the next few days, I want to challenge you to not miss an opportunity that is given to you to come to church, especially during Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter morning. As Christians and seekers of the faith, we just shouldn t miss this gift of worshipping as a church family. Why? It s quite simple, really. Johnny gave us the answer: To tell God, Thank you! I cherish the opportunity that is ours to tell God Thank you, together, in worship. See you there! Peace,
