3 TODAY AT FAITH This morning we continue in our fall morning series, That Old Time Religion. In this fifth sermon in the series our focus will be on strengthening our inner person. Also this morning we welcome David & Nickie Cimbaluk and their son, Benji, to Faith CRC. This evening we welcome Rev. John Huizinga from Lombard CRC to Faith to bring the message. PRAYER & PRAISE Congratulations to Tyler & Sarah Boone on the birth of a son, Austin Scilley, on November 6. Congratulations to former choir director at Faith, J.P. Rakes and his wife Marissa, on the birth of a son, Samuel Jonathan, on November 8. Please pray for Eleanore Gorter. Eleanore has been diagnosed with a bone marrow disease and has begun chemotherapy treatments this week. Remember Bernie Lindemulder who continues in rehab at Lexington Healthcare in Elmhurst. Sue Sipusich has been hospitalized for the past two weeks dealing with complications related to kidney stones. Marilynn Smith is now recovering from knee surgery at home. On Monday Henry Voss will be receiving a third type of chemotherapy treatment. The prayer is that this type of chemo will be effective. Remember to pray for those who are unable to join us in worship. Today we think of Annette (Sis) Bosman who lives in Oswego, IL. ANNOUNCEMENTS Crossroad Send-A-Card - This year we collected 1,172 Christmas cards for this program. Thank you to all who participated. Thanksgiving Day Choir: All those who love to sing are invited to join the Thanksgiving Day Choir. Please sign up in the Narthex. We will have a practice on November 24, after the morning service.

4 Council is calling a Congregational Meeting on November 24, immediately following our morning worship service. The purpose of the meeting will be to provide the congregation the opportunity to vote on whether or not Faith CRC should extend a call to Rev. Matthew Lanser to serve in the position of Minister of Congregational Life. Council was very pleased with the interview conducted with Rev. Lanser and Laura and has heard very favorable comments regarding Rev. Lanser following his preaching and interaction with the congregation this past Sunday. Please be in prayer for God s will for our church as we consider the next step in this process and also for Rev. Lanser and Laura. Proxy ballots can be submitted by those who will not be able to attend the meeting and are available on the last page of the bulletin. They can be placed in clerk Jack Heerdt s mailbox. Thanksgiving instrumentalists: All instrumentalists are invited to play in our Thanksgiving Day Service. We will have a practice on November 24, at 4:30 PM. Music has been put in your mailboxes already, however if you did not receive any music or if you have college students that will be home for Thanksgiving, please contact Jan Slinkman. If you are unable to make the November 24 practice, there will be another practice on Thanksgiving morning before the service. All levels of musicians are welcome!! The Giving Tree: The deaconate of our church is sponsoring a special Christmas gift-giving program to benefit members and friends of our congregation, and local children of prisoners by participating in the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Program. On December 1 and 8 a tree will be set up in the Fellowship Hall with ornaments (for members & friends of our congregation) and Angel Tree tags (for children of prisoners) hanging on it listing a specific gift need. As a congregation, we are invited to pick an ornament or Angel Tree tag, register it with a volunteer, and purchase the listed gift item. The gift is to be wrapped, the paper ornament/tag taped to the package, and the present put under the tree by the morning service of December 15. The gifts will then be distributed to the designated family by the deacons. May we all experience the joy of giving this Christmas season. If you have any questions you may contact Joy Hoving, Angel Tree, or Judy Bronger, Giving Tree, The 7th and 8th grade Catechism class is collecting aluminum cans to raise funds for Hogar De Ninos in Honduras. You are welcome to join us in this project. You may drop off your cans (aluminum cans only in a securely tied plastic bag) by the front door of the house south of church. If you have any questions you can contact a 7th or 8th grader, Lambert Bronger or Brad Wieringa. TODAY Sunday School & Catechism meet from 10:45-11:45 AM. Food Drive: Sunday School and Deacons are sponsoring a food drive for the Ebenezer CRC Food Pantry. The drive continues thru Sunday, November 24. Instead of giving your child a monetary offering for Sunday School, please have them bring something from the list of foods/items given to them. The list is also available at the information desk and on our website. The congregation is also invited to participate by bringing anything from the list. There will be a shopping cart in the narthex to put the food/items in. This is a great opportunity to help a fellow CRC as well as the communities surrounding them. The Deacons are very thankful for your continued support of our church and the organizations we give to.

5 PADS signup sheets are in the fellowship hall for December and January. As a church we have agreed to help out again this year with this ministry to the homeless. Please sign up to help! Faith Book Club: Billy Graham turned 95 on November 7, and we are celebrating his birthday by reading his new book The Reason For My Hope. Dr. Graham asks the question, Who would refuse rescue? He contrasts the world views of rescue versus the biblical answer of salvation thru our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will meet at 7:00 PM. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20 Men s at 7:00 AM. MONDAY, DECEMBER 2-4 The United Community Concerns Association has requested volunteers to help sort and pack food for distribution for Christmas. They will be at Elmhurst City Garage on December 2, 3 and 4 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. On Saturday, December 14 the boxes will be delivered out of the garage beginning at 8:00 AM.
