3 TODAY AT FAITH This Sunday morning in the message we continue in our study of the Gospel of John where Jesus tells us the truth will set us free. Today we ll ask, How Does the Truth the Set us Free? This evening we welcome Rev. Mac Wiener to Faith. Mac teaches Bible at Timothy Christian School. PRAYER & PRAISE All God s Children Honduras Serve Trip: We are leaving early on Saturday, January 25, for our Serve Trip to Comayagua, Honduras to serve the children at the Hogar Dé Niños orphanage. We will return the night of Saturday, February 1. The group this year will be: Candace Wieringa, Corrine Wieringa, Barb Weber, Tim Loerop, Terry De Boer, Dirk Glaubke, Kyle Venhousen, Robert & Judy Venhousen, Jonathan Stremler, Stephen Panaggio, Jeremy Kruis, James Kessel, Clarence Klaassens, Bob Loerop, Ria Hoogsteen, Bernie Slinkman, Gerry Wieringa, Lambert & Judy Bronger, Paul & Pam De Boer, Ed Libby, Katia Libby, Edan Libby, Blake Oostman, and Don Oostman. We appreciate all of your prayers as we prepare for this trip and seek God s guidance and protection. We pray that God will use us to make a difference in the lives of those we serve and meet while we are in Honduras. Brittany Vander Naald is in Zambia, the first country on her eleven month/eleven nation mission trip. For details on her trip and to see what you can be praying about, please visit Brittany s blog at Dennis De Groot is scheduled to have major back surgery on Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Please remember him in your prayers. Pastor Greg had an MRI earlier this week as part of his regular follow-up to a brain surgery to remove a malignant tumor in September of The report back was good: all is well, no change, no tumor recurrence. MRI s will continue every three months. Pastor Greg is thankful to God to be healthy and to be doing so well. He and Sarah and the family are grateful beyond words to the people of Faith for so much love and support and prayer through the trial of the past two years. Florian Tazelaar remains in recovery at Elmhurst Hospital from lung surgery. Jim Van Kampen completed radiation treatments this past week. We pray for the effectiveness of the treatments and for strength since the radiation combined with chemotherapy created much fatigue and weakness. Remember to pray for those who are unable to join us in worship. Today we think of Marian Boersema who lives at Providence Healthcare. OFFERINGS Today: AM: CareNet Pregnancy Services. The Installation Service for Pastor Matthew Lanser will be held on Sunday morning, February 9.

4 Profession of Faith Class - Students from 7 th 12 th grade are encouraged to consider taking the upcoming profession of faith class with Pastor Greg Schuringa. This class will be with a view to publically profess faith in worship this spring. We ll meet on Sundays, February 2, 9, and 23, from 4:00-5:00 PM. Let Pastor Greg know if you will be attending. Profession of Faith - Baptized members who are older than high school age and who have not made profession of faith are encouraged to consider this step. Please feel free to talk to Pastor Greg. Senior Bible Study will resume the first and third Tuesdays in February with Rev. Matthew Lanser leading. The Thursday Morning & Evening Women s Bible Studies which meet on the 1 st & 3 rd Thursdays from 9:00-11:00 AM or 7:30-9:00 PM are starting a new study on the Minor Prophets. Please contact Sarah Schuringa, , sschuringa@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in joining. The Evangelism Committee requests that you prayerfully consider attending a seminar on evangelism. The seminar will be lead by Ruth Kelder, who is on the Central US Mission Leadership Team of Christian Reformed Home Missions. All ages are invited but the material is aimed at an adult audience. We will welcome high school students with an interest in the material as well. The two part seminar will be on Tuesday nights, February 18 and 25, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM. Please sign-up in the narthex to let us know you are joining us. There is a flier on the sign-up table with an outline of the training. Psalm 98:4-6 Crossroad Bible Institute thanks Judy Bronger and Jayne Lindemulder (5 years), Renate D Angelo, John De Vries, Wilma Folkerts, Jennifer Rusthoven, Charles Smith, and Kristen Voss (10 years) in honor of their special anniversary for serving a milestone number of years discipling people in prison. God has used their faithfulness to see lives eternally changed, and CBI is tremendously thankful to Him for their perseverance in reaching those who are cast aside and forgotten by many. We at CBI pray that God will enable them to continue this good work for many years to come.
