3 TODAY AT FAITH This morning we remember and celebrate Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came in power ten days after Jesus Ascension. We ll continue in our new sermon series Standing on the Promises by looking at Jesus promise of the Holy Spirit. We ll ask what is new and special about this promise especially because the Holy Spirit was active in the lives of believers already before Pentecost. Today in worship, on Memorial Day weekend, we also give thanks to God for sacrifices made by men and women, so that we may worship the Lord freely in our nation. Those who have served in the military will be remembered before worship begins in the morning and also in a special way during our annual Memorial Day Hymn Sing this evening where Burt Kettinger and Rev. May 31: AM: Timothy Christian School. PM: Elmhurst Walk-in Ministry. PRAYER & PRAISE After the morning service, if you have prayer needs, please visit room 1 on the north side of the sanctuary. We extend our sympathy to Louis & Jeanette Van Dyke on the death of Louis brother, Andrew Van Dyk, on May 12. Services were held last Sunday at Western Springs CRC. Bill Bolt moved to Saratoga Grove last week. Jeanette Tazelaar is at Providence for a couple weeks of rehab after spending some time in the hospital. Ken Van Byssum, Jr., was expecting to have surgery last week to remove his esophagus, but instead ended up having a different surgery to repair a hole that had developed in his esophagus. It s unclear at this point when or if Ken will be able to have the originally scheduled surgery. Pray for good healing for Ken, for patience and peace for him and his family, and for clear answers to emerge about what treatment will come next. Jerry Wieringa is still at Lexington Square in Elmhurst, but is hoping to finish up his rehab and return home very soon. Remember to pray for those who are unable to join us in worship. Today we think of Bill Finniak who lives in Saratoga Grove Retirement Center. Pastor Matthew Lanser will be back in the office this Tuesday after a few days away.

4 ANNOUNCEMENTS SPRINGFEST - come out this Saturday for a day full of FUNdraising for our TCS Fund. Kids and Family Activities begin at 3:30 PM. Come out and ride a pony, pet a sheep, buy baked goods, bid on sporting event tickets and many more silent auction items or DUNK OUR PASTORS and Matt Davidson TCS Superintendent. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:30 PM and the popular Great Toddini will perform at 6:30 PM! SEE YOU ALL SATURDAY! The Gathering Sub Sale continues through May 31. Orders can be placed through any youth group member or by filling out a form on the signup desk. Delicious Sub Sandwiches are only $5.00 each, and need to be ordered by May 31. We are again planning to send a team of adults to Tapestries of Life Ministries in Mexico for a serve project on September If you are interested in joining this team, please contact Greg & Lynda Lanenga, for more details. Last weekend was the Cadet Father/Son Campout. It was wet and muddy but fun. This was the last event for this Cadet season. Faith Cadets thanks the family of Faith for the continued support the Cadet program has enjoyed. Thank you to this year s counselors: Peter Holtrop, Steve Van Kampen, Brad Wieringa, Ryan Swanson, Steve Weglarz, Peter Groenewold, Lambert Bronger and Jr. Counselors Charles Hooker & Jonah Vander Naald. The Gathering is looking for used patio furniture to use at the house. If you are replacing yours this year, we would be happy to pick up your old ones and give them a new home. The kids have various outdoor activities planned for the summer and could use a place to sit.
