Psalm 139:23-24 WELCOME: We welcome all who worship with us today in Spirit and in truth. Today, Communion Sunday, we remember the death and the suffering of our Lord on Calvary. It is our desire that, with clean consciences and with hands cleansed in the blood of the Lamb, our worship will be acceptable to Him. This morning, we will be celebrating the sacrament of Holy Communion together. If you are visiting with us today, we welcome you to join us at the Lord s Table if you have professed your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and are a member in good standing of a Bible-believing, evangelical church. For others of you, we ask that today you refrain from participating; however, we would love to speak with you more about faith in Jesus Christ and the meaning of this supper. Pre-service prayer time is held each Sunday from 9:30 9:45 AM in the Society room. Grab some coffee and join us in this time of prayer. Children aged 3-5 meet your teachers in the Narthex during the Song of Commitment this morning for Children s Church. Please watch for your children as they will be coming back into the service during the offertory. Our church will be hosting the Community Prayer Meeting today at 4:00 PM. Prayer will be for the sake of our nation and the upcoming election. ABOUT OUR MESSAGES Every week, on the top of your bulletin, you see the phrase, In All Things, Christ Pre-eminent. What does this mean and why is this a fitting line to plaster atop our bulletin? This morning, we look at Colossians 1:15-20, the original location of this phrase, to see that the awesome power of Christ makes it a fitting slogan not merely for our bulletin, but also for our hearts and lives. Next week, we ll return to the book of Proverbs.

5 Tonight, we continue looking at questions of the faith that you submitted. With our country s election just around the corner, perhaps now is as good of a time as any to answer this question: What does the Bible say about politics? For guidance on this thorny issue, we ll study Jeremiah 29:1-14 and 1 Timothy 2:1-4, which emphasize the need for action, prudence, and prayer. Next week, we answer the question, Why bother with church membership? PRAYERS AND PRAISES Dear Friends at Platte CRC: In September Amy met H while she was making copies. The next day she came to Amy s outreach English class for women, and then to a women s Bible study the day after that. H comes from the upper class of Mexico and she is also a former witch. Praise God she is now growing in her love for Christ! Thank you for your partnership in the gospel in Mexico, including your very generous gifts in April and August! ~Rev. 6 REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS DCS s $50,000 donation challenge: Praise be to God! As of this week, we have raised over $40,000 towards our $50,000 donation goal for our October Harvest for DCS event! Thank you so much to all who have contributed during this event; may we continue to press forward to that $50,000 goal!! Fall Cursillo there is still room available for candidates and workers for November! Call or text Karla Global Leadership Summit early bird registration deadline is October 26. The dates are August 10 11, 2017, with sites in Mitchell and Sioux Falls. If interested, contact Karla at Bethel Lutheran Church is hosting Trunk-R-Treat again this year next Monday, October 31 in their parking lot from 5:30-7:30 PM. Decorations should be with the purpose of sharing the Gospel by shining the light on the night. DCS s 2nd Annual Fall Fling Vendor/Craft Fair will be Saturday, November 5th at DCS from 10 AM -2 PM with over 30 vendor booths!! A soup with bread bowl lunch will be served. We will also have a coffee bar and caramel apple station. Come get pictures taken in front of the winter backdrop for Christmas cards this year! You can drop them in the tote in the Fellowship Hall. ABOUT OUR OFFERINGS This week s offerings are for our Improvement Fund with the morning Communion Thank offering for World Renew. World Renew serves worldwide as the development, disaster response, and justice arm of the Christian Reformed Church in North America. (paraphrased from worldrenew.org) Next week, our church will take an offering to support the ministry of Home Missions. North America is quickly becoming one of the biggest mission fields in the world the task of spreading light and life is difficult, but God has equipped us to join him in mission.
