3 TODAY AT FAITH This morning we continue in the book of Titus under the theme Building the Household of Faith. Our text this morning outlines God s will for faithful leadership in the church. We ll see how to be His faithful leaders. Also this morning we ll hear testimony from a team who recently went to serve those in need in Honduras through All God s Children, a ministry Faith has supported for many years. This evening our sermon series on the essentials of the Christian faith continues. Our text will be Hebrews 2:14-18, which focuses on Christ our Savior. We ll see how sin brought us to be in debt, imprisoned, guilty, and alienated, and how Jesus makes us forgiven, delivered, innocent, and restored. Actual accrued expenses for the same period totaled approximately $517,000 or a $35,000 actual shortfall. As of January 31, 20017, the Timothy Tuition Assistance obligation for the school year was approximately $45,900. 4 Christine Nicodem went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 11. We extend our Christian sympathy to her son, Bob & Ellyn Nicodem and their family. Services were held last week. Please keep the family in your prayers. Pearl Dykstra fell last week and spent several days in the hospital. Ruth Kwarta had esophageal/stomach surgery last week. Please pray for a good recovery for Ruth. Pastor Greg Schuringa has eight more radiation treatments left and is scheduled to be done on March 1. More details on his surgery, recovery and cancer treatments continue to be on carepages.com. Gert Tazelaar (Mrs. Ray) fell and broke her leg last week. After successful surgery she is in rehab at Park Place. Pray for complete healing for Gert. Remember to pray for those who are unable to join us in worship. Today we think of Grace Bolt who lives in Saratoga Grove Retirement Home. ANNOUNCEMENTS Profession of Faith Classes: a class for High School students concludes next Sunday, February 26. Understanding Islam: Dr. Derke Bergsma is continuing his course on Understanding Islam today and next week. The class will meet in rooms 1-3 (on the north side of the building) starting about ten minutes after the morning service concludes. Come to learn more about why Muslims believe and live as they do. This week s class will focus on the life of Mohamed. Senior Bible Study will meet this week Tuesday at 1:15 PM. We ll continue from last time with our study of Exodus (beginning with Lesson 6, question 7 in the study guide). Contact Pastor Matthew with questions. The monies collected will enable CareNet to continue their work counseling women in a crisis pregnancy and in saving the lives of unborn children. Women s Morning of Encouragement: You can sign up today online or at the sign up counter to join us for breakfast on Saturday, February 25 at 8:30 AM, featuring our amazing Cadet leaders cooking breakfast and an encouraging message by guest speaker, Heather Stroobosscher, from Zephaniah 3:17. All girls and women, middle school and up are welcome! This is also a great opportunity to invite a coworker or friend! The Faith Book Club has chosen Preemptive Love: Pursuing Peace One Heart at a Time by Jeremy Courtney for the March 8 meeting. Jeremy (a 2017 Calvin January Series speaker) shares how he and others founded the Preemptive Love Coalition to obtain lifesaving surgeries in Iraq and provide emergency relief for families victimized by ISIS. We will meet at 7:00 PM. The Evangelism and Missions Committees invite you to join us in a time of service at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Aurora as part of Missions Emphasis week this March. On Thursday evening, March 9, from 8:00 9:30 PM we will be filling food packets that are sent out globally to needy people. You can sign up at the information desk in the narthex or online at We have reserved 100 spots so bring your friends and families to join us to fight world hunger. 5 You re Invited! On the evening of March 23, the Adult Ministries Committee is hosting the screening of the highly acclaimed movie and documentary called Poverty Inc. Bring your family, co-workers, neighbors and friends to this engaging and thought-provoking documentary that will confront us as Christians on how to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God. YOUTH NEWS The Gathering, our ministry to high school students, will meet tonight at 7:30 9:30 PM at the Schuringa s (1120 S. Oakland, Villa Park). GEMS Girls Club will meet this Wednesday from 6:30 8:30 PM at church. Dare-2-Share - Asylum students are invited to join us on March 3-4 for this evangelism conference. Registration is available online and due February 19. Feed My Starving Children: 6-12 th graders are invited to join with the rest of the church from 7:00 10:00 PM on March 9 assembling food boxes for the hungry. Actual serve time is 8:00 9:30 PM. Asylum: Middle Schoolers are invited to join us on select Fridays at church for games, Bible study and small groups. Our next meeting is on Friday, March 24, 7:00 9:00 PM.
