3 TODAY AT FAITH Our Standing on the Promises series continues in both services today. This morning we ll be reading Jesus parable about the Pharisee and the Tax Collector from Luke 18:9-14. Through this story, we see God s promise to lift up those who seek mercy for their sins. This evening we ll be reading the conclusion of the flood narrative in Genesis 8:20-9:17. This passage shows us one of God s promises to care for all the living creatures on the earth. OFFERINGS Today: AM: Roseland Christian Ministries. PM: Crossroad Bible Institute. 4 The Women s Bible Studies will start on Thursday, September 17, and will meet most first and third Thursdays. The morning study meets from 9:00 11:00 AM at church and offers childcare. The evening study meets from 7:15 9:00 PM at church. All women are welcome! We ll be studying To Live Is Christ: The Life and Ministry of Paul by Beth Moore. The Faith CRC Annual Golf Outing will be held at Maple Meadows on September 19, with a shotgun start at 1:00 PM. Singles, groups and foursomes of all ages and abilities are welcomed. 6 ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM OUR MINISTRY PARTNERS Attention all Sportsmen: The Calvinist Cadet Corps is hosting its first annual Sporting Clay Shoot to benefit the 2017 International Camporee in the Black Hills of South Dakota (specifically for the riflery and archery ranges). This benefit will also help offset the overall cost for Cadets to attend the camporee. The event will be held on Saturday, August 22 at the Blendon Pines Gun Club in Zeeland, MI. For more info, call the Corps office, x 4, or check out the Cadet website under the Events tab. Everyone is welcome! Registration forms are available from your Cadet Club s Head Counselor or you can register at Lunch will be served at noon. Join us for a fun filled day! If you can t make it out for the event, but still want to be involved, we are looking for people to sponsor stations or to make a pledge for a participating shooter. Elim's HOPE Packs program gives adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to assemble school supply kits for disadvantaged children in Chicago. HOPE Packs provide Elim s adults hardto-find, meaningful employment and also provide essential school supplies to local children in need. PrimeTime of Elmhurst CRC a monthly gathering of those 55 and older opens its season with a day long bus tour to Shipshewana, Indiana. On Friday, September 11, we ll leave Elmhurst Church by 9:00 AM, enjoy a box lunch en route as we travel through the delightful Amish countryside in our luxury coach. At 1:00 PM we ll enjoy a new play, Half-Stitched, at the Blue Gate Garden Inn Theater. Following the play we ll sit down to a family style all you can eat Amish feast with roast beef, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, homemade noodles, rolls, dessert and beverage. There will be time for sightseeing and souvenir shopping. The total cost for the day including transportation, meals, theater tickets and tips is $80 per person. We plan to be back at Elmhurst Church by 9:00 PM.
