Tom THE INCARNATION OF CHRISTMAS And the Word became flesh (John 1:14) The Word the creative, life-giving Word of God is not just something you and I hear and believe. The Word of God is something we become. The Jesuit poet Gerard Manley Hopkins wrote: Christ plays in ten thousand places, lovely in limbs, and lovely in eyes not his to the Father through the features of men s faces. Christmas is a celebration of Incarnation, a celebration of divinity becoming present in humanity: born first in Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem; now borne in us so we can become and witness the love forgiveness and peace of God in our modern, fast-moving, often troubled world. And the Word became flesh, your flesh and my flesh, so the world and all in it will see and come to believe that we are all brothers and sisters: one with God, one with every human being, and one with the earth itself. Allowing the Word of God to become our flesh is an invitation a calling - a challenge a journey a responsibility - a blessing a spark of the divine. May the Word become flesh in our time, in every place, and in people everywhere. May you and I truly become a Christmas Incarnation. Merry Christmas! Michael J. Children between the ages of 4 through Grade 4 are invited to join into this special Christmas celebration of joy! The Angel Choir will perform at 10:45 Mass on December 23. Due to a generous donation from the Council of Catholic Women, there will be special props this year. You won t want to miss it!! Practices take place during the normal Children s Liturgy time at 10:45 Mass. 3 Year-End Tax Deadline The IRS regulations require donations to be received by a charity on or before December 31, 2018 or postmarked December 31, 2018 to qualify as a deduction for The center will be open as usual on Thursday, December 27 from 8:00am-4:00pm and 8:00-noon Friday, December 28 for your convenience in making a last minute contribution. We will watch the mail on January 2, 2019 for any envelopes postmarked December 31, 2018 so that you are credited appropriately. Thank you for your generosity. A Seven Sister: One Holy Hour, One Priest, Each Week, One Heart of Prayer Sacred Heart has accepted the invitation to begin The Seven Sisters Apostolate. The Seven Sisters is a PROMISE to say one hour of prayer - HOLY HOUR in front of the Tabernacle, with Christ inside, inside Sacred Heart Church any day or hour you chose from 6:00am to 6:00pm. Approximately 250 Apostolates across our Diocese and the world have already embraced this powerful act of love, praise and support for our loyal, steadfast and beloved Priests who dedicate their every day to us! (64 Parishes in Wisconsin) We will have handbooks with many prayers, devotions and Novenas and we will begin with a commissioning prayer and blessing. 4 Sacred Heart Parish Family Night for All to Enjoy When: Wednesday, December 19 Where: Sacred Heart Church 7:00pm until 7:45pm. Cookies and hot chocolate to follow in the Gathering Space after the presentation. Age appropriate for this presentation is 5 th Grade and above. All families are welcome to attend. The following is planned for our younger generation. Saint Nick will be here for first through fourth grade in the cafeteria from 6:30 to 7:15pm with your families to share the Real Meaning of Christmas. You are welcome to attend the presentation upstairs in the church. Retirement Collection Thank you to all who gave generously last weekend through the Retirement Collection. If you still wish to donate, you may use the envelopes in church or the parish office to share in the care of our retired sisters, brothers, and religious order priests, as well as our own diocesan priests. On behalf of them, thank you for your generous care! Each Christmas season, Sacred Heart invites parishioners to make donations toward the purchase of flowers for church in memory of loved ones.
