All profits from this activity are used to offset field trips and transportation expenses at Sacred Heart Catholic School. Take care of the Earth and support Catholic education at the same time. Sacrament of Reconciliation Pastor s Pen Dear Parishioners, Bishop Ricken is urging us to pray for and support immigration reform as the House of Representatives considers this matter. Each of us is entitled to our opinion as to what this reform will be. But I think we all agree that the current situation from a Christian perspective is not acceptable to anyone. Please pray for and consider contacting our Representatives and urge them to support an immigration reform bill which would: Provide a path to citizenship for undocumented persons living in the US; Preserve and strengthen family unity; Provide legal avenues for low-skilled immigrants to come and work in the US; Restore due process for immigrants; Promote efforts that address the root causes of migration, such as poverty and persecution. 4 Sacred Heart Religious education We welcome 11 special new faces to our Sacred Heart Catholic School family this year! New students: Lily Gee - 4K McKenna Yeager - 4K Davis Lyons - Kindergarten Marissa Tomashek - 1st grade Bode Frechette - 2nd grade Julius Kaquatosh - 2nd grade Mckenzie Kaquatosh - 3rd grade Demetrius Kaquatosh - 6th grade Luke Alvarez - 6th grade Atty Wagner - 8th grade And of course Father Luke Ferris! Father Luke will be working with teachers to offer instructional support, and is also anxious to meet our students and start getting to know them as young Catholics! We ll see him on the basketball court too! Classes Start Religious Education starts on Wednesday, September 11 with a meeting for all parents and students at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. The handbook, calendar and new procedures will be explained. Regular classes start on Wednesday, September 18. Fall Bible Study Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come will be the topic for the fall session of Bible Study. The video host is Jeff Cavins, internationally known as an exciting presenter of Bible studies. As always, there will be a Sunday evening group and a Wednesday afternoon group. The course will start the week of September 15 and run for 11 weeks. Attendance at all sessions is not necessary. The cost is $20 for the study guide. Young Adult Evening Tuesday, September 10, 7:00pm at Luigi s. Bring a friend or two for Q & A on our Faith. RCIA Interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith? RCIA sessions are open to anyone wishing to know about our faith in a systematic overview. Lessons can be arranged at your convenience. I hope that all of you had a great (and not too hot!) summer, filled with opportunities to love the Lord! Youth Ministry is once again starting up our monthly LiGHT Gatherings. LiGHT Gatherings are middle and high school faith nights, planned and run by our high school age LiGHTKeepers, where youth can gather for fun, fellowship, and to share their faith with like-minded peers. They usually take place the third Sunday in the month (next weekend is our first for the school year!) and are a lot of fun. All are welcome! September LiGHT Gathering Sunday, September 15 6:00-8:00pm The LiGHT Gathering will take place in the Parish Youth Center, located in the basement of the Parish Center.
