4 It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night. Psalm 92:1,2 WELCOME: We extend our sincere and wholehearted welcome to each one who worships here today. May our worship be acceptable before God, Our Father, through His Son, Our Savior, Jesus Christ. Please join us after the service for refreshments in the Fellowship Hall. We welcome Brian Fite to our pulpit this morning, and Reverend Bill Van Gerpen this evening. Children aged 3-5 meet your teachers in the Narthex during the offering this morning for Children s Church. ABOUT OUR MESSAGES In our morning service, Brian Fite shares a message: "Preeminent" which is shaped around our Church s Mission: "To Know Christ... To Be Like Christ To Share Christ..." Our scripture passage is Colossians 1: Our world continues to tumble into chaos. Investigations, accusations, compromise of national security and decline of decency have become poisoned arrows against national unity. Job of the O.T. is often praised for his faith despite boils, bereavements and brokenness. His wisdom, however, expressed in his talks contain nuggets of wisdom for our time. Tonight s message by Rev. Bill Van Gerpen will reveal points of Job s advice needed to be heard and lived today. Thus, this evening s sermon title: Job Speaks to America. 5 This week, the Synod of the Christian Reformed Church in North America is meeting in Palos Heights, IL. Synod is a gathering of delegates from across the denomination to decide matters of the church. Pastor Drew is a delegate from Classis Iakota. Please pray for wisdom, prudence and energy for all delegates. If you care to watch, much of it can be livestreamed at OUR ANNOUNCEMENTS Next Sunday evening, June 18, we will be joining the SERVE teams for our evening worship service at 7:00 PM. Pastor Drew and the SERVE praise team will lead worship, and Luke Vanderleest will be giving the message. Please come at around 6:00 PM prior to the evening service for Rootbeer Floats and an opportunity to visit with your prayer partners and the SERVE teams. SERVE starts this week Saturday, June 17! Prayer Partners needed! There are still SERVE participants needing prayer partners. Please talk to Jeanette after the service. Meal Workers and Food Donations: If you haven t yet volunteered, there are still opportunities for your help. Please talk to Harriett. Cool Whip containers are needed. Please drop them off on the table in the entry by the kitchen. If anyone is willing to bring their boat to the River and join the SERVE Team for their day away on Thursday please talk to Kim. We'd love to have you join us. The SERVE Team invites all young at heart to join us for Praise and Worship each evening at approx. 7:00 PM. Our 2017 Spiritual Leader is Luke Vanderleest from Sioux Falls Christian School.

6 Platte Helping Hands Food Drive The SERVE team will be doing a food drive for the Platte Helping Hands Food Pantry on Friday, June 23. All non-perishable items are welcome. The SERVE team will be going door to door beginning at 8:30 AM on Friday, June 23, or you may drop your bagged donations in the entry. All donated items should have a good expiration date and be unused/unopened. "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it for me." Matthew 25:40 AREA ANNOUNCEMENTS A DCS scrip order will be placed on Tuesday, June 13. Orders may be placed in Joan s mailbox until Sunday evening or brought to DCS by 8:30 AM on Tuesday. The next order date will be in five weeks on July 18. Order blanks are available throughout the month in the last mailbox on the west side marked Scrip Order Blanks. Thanks for using this means to support Christian education. Children ages 5-12 years old are invited to South Park, June from 1:30-3:00 PM for a 5-Day Club led and taught by Child Evangelism Fellowship. It is a FREE mini VBS for all kids in the community. Kids see the flyer in your church mailbox! Grandparents there are a few extra flyers on the bulletin board. Needed: a few adult hosts for each day to be present from 1-3 PM and serve snacks. Operation Shoebox Guatemala is collecting shoeboxes to bless children at Christmastime. Shoeboxes and instruction sheets are available in the front entryway. 7 ABOUT OUR OFFERINGS This week, our offerings are for Dakota Christian School. Dakota Christian School educates children and young people from the perspective of God s Word, in the Holy Bible, in all subjects. We emphasize God s truth in all areas of life to equip students for service in our world today and tomorrow. (from dchs.net) Next week, our offerings are for the Platte SERVE. Our SERVE team will be ministering to adults and children in Lake Andes as well as Platte and our surrounding communities.
