WEEKEND MASSES Sunday Mass - see bulletin, until Pastor arrives back from sabbatical HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION Mass of the Day - 5:00 PM SACRAMENTS Baptism Baptism is celebrated after consultation with the parish staff as to date. Registered membership in the parish and attendance at a Baptism Class are required for all parents prior to their first child s Baptism. Holy Communion A two-year required sacramental preparation process begins in the first grade. It culminates in the celebration of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in the second grade. Confirmation A two-year required sacramental preparation process begins in the seventh grade. It culminates in the celebration of Confirmation. Matrimony A six-month required sacramental preparation process begins when the engaged couple meets with the priest or deacon and culminates in the couple s exchange of consent on their wedding day. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) A one-year process for preparation and study is required for all those interested in becoming Catholic. 2 PALABRAS DE SABIDURÍA Hoy aprendemos en la primera lectura que el espíritu de la sabiduría llega a los que lo invocan. La sabiduría, como la Palabra de Dios, lleva un mensaje de consuelo y a la vez constituye un gran desafío. La carta a los hebreos nos cuenta que la Palabra de Dios, que está empapada con la sabiduría de Dios, es más penetrante que una espada de dos filos. No podemos acobardarnos ante la sabiduría de Dios ni ante la palabra que tiene el poder de penetrar nuestro corazón y mente. Jesús, la Palabra viva de Dios, la encarnación de la sabiduría, le dice cosas fuertes y muy penetrantes al joven rico que acude a Jesús en busca de respuestas a sus dudas más profundas. HOW TO REQUEST A MASS INTENTION Those wishing to honor a loved one during the celebration of Mass for the living or the deceased, or for prayerful remembrance of anniversaries, birthdays, and other special intentions may call or visit the office. Masses are usually scheduled months in advance, so if there is a particular date on which you want the Mass Intention, please make the request well ahead of time. The suggested stipend for each Mass is $5.00. Pope Francis has asked the Catholics of the world to pray the rosary during the month of October and to add the Prayer of Saint Michael along with the invocation: We fly to Thy protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O Glorious and Blessed Virgin. This is a common way that we may rise our voices together for healing for victims, repentance for offenders, renewal throughout the Church, and overcoming the division that is the work of the evil one. The Men's Cursillo Weekend Nov 29-Dec 2, 2018 Cliffview Retreat Center in Lancaster KY Cursillo is a short course in Christianity for lay people in the Catholic Church which provides tools for your prayer life, study to learn more about God and being a Christian in action in your daily life. It provides an opportunity to retreat from your daily life to spend time with God and other Catholic men. The Weekend begins on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Cliffview in Lancaster, KY and ends on Sundayaround 7-8 p.m. Father John Moriarty with Deacons Bill Wakefield and Ted Fraebel are our spiritual advisors and the Lay Rector is Frank Burke, MD, St Elizabeth Ann Seton parishioner. One must be Catholic to attend and participate in the Sacraments (i.e., reconciliation and Eucharist at Mass). The Weekend cost is $200 for a double room and all meals. For those with medical needs a private room is available for $300. Requests for Scholarships are welcome for anyone needing financial assistance. Each candidate is sponsored before and after the Weekend.A sponsor is one who has already attended a Cursillo Weekend and is available for you before to answer any questions and after to share your Cursillo Weekend experience.we can find someone in your parish who can sponsor you when you choose to attend a Cursillo Weekend. Candidate and sponsor applications are lexingtoncursillo. Both applications are to be completed according to instructions on the forms. Transportation from Pax Christi Catholic Church in Lexington at 5 p.m. to Cliffview on Thursday evening will be provided. The Gagnon s have found a very holy man who needs a miracle to be canonized a saint. His name is Blessed John Licci. God preformed many miracles through him while he lived 111 years on Earth. He is the patron for head injuries as well. Just as the Gagnon s have ask for all our intercessions on behalf of Henry, they will be praying for the Blessed John Licci s intercession that God may completely heal Henry. In order for Blessed John Licci to be canonized a saint, we can only ask for his intercession in the miraculous healing of Henry. No other saints, including Mother Mary, can be invoked while praying for Henry s healing. This ensures that only the miracle God has bestowed on Henry is through Blessed John Licci s intercession.
