Registered membership in the parish and attendance at a Baptism Class are required for all parents prior to their first child s Baptism. Holy Communion A two-year required sacramental preparation process begins in the first grade. It culminates in the celebration of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in the second grade. Confirmation A two-year required sacramental preparation process begins in the seventh grade. It culminates in the celebration of Confirmation. Matrimony A six-month required sacramental preparation process begins when the engaged couple meets with the priest or deacon and culminates in the couple s exchange of consent on their wedding day. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) A one-year process for preparation and study is required for all those interested in becoming Catholic. El nombre latino se deriva de la petición de Pedro en la segunda lectura de alégrense siempre en el Señor, y del texto de la Misa en latín en el que está basada esta lectura. La ironía y paradoja de esta alegría cristiana se manifiesta en el hecho que Pablo escribió esas palabras en la prisión. Pero desde allí podía ver el progreso de la obra de Dios. Nos parece obvio a nosotros? Sentimos que este no es un tiempo para la alegría cuando hay tanto sufrimiento e inmoralidad. Es interesante, entonces, que la primera lectura sea del profeta Sofonías, que está casi exclusivamente preocupado con sombrías visiones del Día del Juicio. Hoy la Iglesia selecciona la única parte optimista de Sofonías, donde el profeta es tocado por el espíritu del gozo. Esta es, se nos asegura en todas partes, la temporada de la alegría. 4 EUCHARISTIC ADORATION & BENEDICTION in the Daily Mass Chapel FOLLOWING 11:00 AM WEDNESDAY MASS - 9:00 PM INCLEMENT WEATHER REMINDER If bad weather causes Mercer County Schools to close, then there will be NO ADORATION on Wednesday or no Monday evening WORD AND COMMUNION SERVICE. Please sign-up for the Christmas and New Years Masses ATTENTION: If you serve as a Liturgical Minister PLEASE arrive for Mass at least 10 minutes early and sign in on the sheet in the sacristy. THE LUNCH BUNCH The Lunch Bunch formally known as Senior Luncheon Group wants to invite ALL Parishioners to join us for some fellowship! We have scheduled monthly luncheons on the last Friday of each month after the 11:00 Mass (with the exception of November and December due to the holidays)! PLEASE JOIN US ALL ARE WELCOME! Please help keep our Sanctuary clean. After Mass on the weekends, if you could kindly tidy up your pew and the area around you. Our current cleaning service does not do this for us, so we need your help in keeping our Sanctuary looking nice. Oh, and don t forget to take home your bulletins! Choir practice has been moved to Tuesday, December 18 at 7:00 PM, due to the Penance Service on Wednesday evening. Also, there will be NO choir practice on Wednesday, December 26.

5 HOW TO REQUEST A MASS INTENTION Those wishing to honor a loved one during the celebration of Mass for the living or the deceased, or for prayerful remembrance of anniversaries, birthdays, and other special intentions may call or visit the office. Masses are usually scheduled months in advance, so if there is a particular date on which you want the Mass Intention, please make the request well ahead of time. The suggested stipend for each Mass is $5.00. COLD & FLU SEASON and COMMUNION The flu and cold season is underway. When we suspect illness, each of us can help decrease the spread of illness by not receiving the Precious Blood of Christ from the cup during Communion. The Social Events Committee is sponsoring a drive to supply the homeless with gentlyused coats, gloves, sock hats, long underwear, socks, and blankets. Please check your closets for anything you can give. There will be tubs in the foyer for the donations. The donations will be given to our local homeless population and any children's items will be taken to the local school resource centers. Some cookbooks made it out the door with a couple of typos.
