2 Page Two Dear Parishioners, Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. Jesus gave the apostles the power to go out into the world and forgive sins. Today that ministry is continued through Baptism and Confession and anointing of the sick. In all of these sacraments sin is forgiven All people are called to this Divine Mercy which issued forth from the side of Christ on the cross in the blood and the water. May we all be emissaries of this Divine Mercy. Congratulations to all our RCIA candidates who received sacraments at the Easter Vigil. Dylan Domingue and Alexis Domingue were Baptized and received their 1st Communion. Emily Anderson was received into the Church and received her 1st Communion and Con irmation. Brennan Breaux received her 1st Communion and Con irmation. Brooke Domingue received her 1st Communion. Rhiannon Geisinger and Lyndsay Sanchez received their Con irmation. Let us keep them all in our prayers along with our second graders who will receive their 1st Communion today and the eleventh graders who will be con irmed Tuesday. God bless you all. Thanks to all who made our Easter celebrations so beautiful. I want to thank Monica Laperous who keeps our parish running so smoothly. Thanks to Yvette Broussard and her choir for the beautiful music. Thanks to Troy Albarado and all his helpers who decorated the church so wonderfully. Thanks to all our ushers, altar servers, readers, extraordinary lay ministers of Holy Communion, God s housekeepers, and all who help the church in any way. Thanks also to our sacristans. We need you all. Thanks to Fr. Metrejean and Deacon Art Bakeler, they do such a great job. We need Extraordinary Lay Ministers of Holy Communion to bring Communion to the sick in their homes. We also need Readers and Extraordinary Lay Ministers of Holy Communion at all Masses for the next schedule staring in July. If you are a good, practicing Catholic following all the teachings of the Church, this is the ministry for you, so if you are interested please give me a call. For more information you can go to Special Needs Cursillo The Special Needs Cursillo is scheduled to begin on Thursday evening, April 16th, until Sunday, April 19th, It is held at the Cursillo Center in Prairie Ronde, LA, with accommodations for the weekend. Everyone is invited to attend, handicap, elderly and anyone who cannot make the regular weekend and wants to come. The criteria is being Catholic and in a valid marriage and having a sponsor who has made Cursillo. Accommodation can be made for a sponsor if needed and inancial help if necessary. Nurses are on staff and doctors are on call to cater to and administer medication when and if needed. Transportation is available by calling Gloria Matte at Annual Celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday The Central Region of the Diocese of Lafayette will host a special celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday on, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. This event begins at 2:00 p.m. with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Divine Mercy Chaplet and Prayers, Sacrament of Reconciliation, and more, followed by Holy Mass at 3:00 p.m. The main celebrant will be Rev. Michael Russo, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church; homilist will be Rev. Steven LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Very Rev. Thomas James, SVD, VE, Episcopal Vicar of the Central Region, will concelebrate along with other clergy. A blessing with the Relic of St. Faustina will be held at the end of the Mass. All are welcome to attend, and no pre-registration is required. Please note that Confessions will be limited; you may receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to Divine Mercy Sunday. Every effort will be made to accommodate those attending; however, Confessions will end promptly at 2:45 p.m. Parking is available at Our Lady of Fatima, with additional parking at Blackham Coliseum with a uniformed police escort to assist in crossing Johnston Street to the Church. Food for the Journey The Central Region of the Diocese of Lafayette presents Food for the Journey, a monthly lunchtime speaker series designed to help Catholics live out our faith in our daily lives.
