2 Page Two Dear Parishioners, This is Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete means rejoice. We are half way through the Advent Season so we slightly anticipate the joy of Christmas with lowers allowed on the altar and our rose colored candle on the Advent Wreath. We hear St. Paul in the 2nd reading from Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I say it again: rejoice! So let us rejoice in the knowledge of the coming of the Lord. The big news is that Catholic Radio has come to Lafayette from KLFT 90.5 FM. It uses EWTN radio programing but over time will have more and more local shows. Our parish picked up a donation for them almost a year ago and now it has come to fruition. Please check it out. LANDSCAPING Trees have been planted and we hope you agree that they added much to our facility. We still have more to do especially on the playground behind the school. FAMILY DINNER NIGHT In keeping with our desire to encourage families to dine together at least one night a week the most recent question posed to our students and their families is: What is your favorite song at church and why? Students are encouraged to discuss this question with their families and bring written responses to school where they can be posted and shared, REGISTRATION Seems hard to believe but registration for the school year will begin next month. Interested families are reminded to check the school website at for the latest information. The online registration packet will be accessible after January 1, WE CONTINUE TO GROW Next year, , we will have students in grades Pre-K-8th with an expected enrollment of over 300! A wonderful testament to the commitment of this community to Catholic education. We will have two sections of classes through 4th grade with more growth to come. Anonymous Holy Land Gifts-Olive Wood Carvings Saida & George Rashmawi, volunteer members from the Roman Catholic Church in Bethelehem in the Holy Land are visiting our parish the weekend of December They will speak to us about the Christian struggle in the Holy Land and they also have some beautiful Olive Wood carvings which are all handmade by the Christian people over there. This is a Church mission to maintain the existence of the Catholic people in the Holy Land. Catholic Christians were once the majority in that land but the percentage has now dropped to less than 1.5%. Please take time to look at the carvings, make a purchase and help this worthy cause. These carvings make great Christmas gifts that have an added special signi icance.
