This will be a collection we will put together for our graduates but we need your input! If you can't think of what to say, how about interviewing an elder and writing it up? Your lessons are due April 23 and can be ed to lynnehintonnm@aol.com or you can give the hard copy to one of the pastors. Healing Services During Lent: Throughout the Sundays in Lent our Sunday evening Vesper Services will focus on healing. If you'd like prayer or the anointing of oil for your healing (this includes spiritual and emotional healing as well as physical) or would like to come to pray for someone in your life who needs healing, join us at 6:00 PM on Sundays in the sanctuary. We re making butterflies! Throughout the season of Lent we are inviting everyone to make origami butterflies to be placed in the sanctuary on Easter Sunday. There are steps copied off and available to you at the church; but you can also find instructions on You Tube. Make as many as you d like! There is origami paper available at the church for your project.

4 Use this Lenten handiwork as an opportunity to pray for our community, our world, our church. Pray for your pastors and leaders as well as the sick and poor among us. Find a verse of scripture to recite as you create! As you make the butterflies consider those relationships and dreams in your life that seem dead and forgotten. How can God breathe new life into what seems to have died? Let the creation of this art project be a time of personal devotion. Make one a day in your time of prayer and at the end of each week, bring your butterflies to the church office. Let s fill the sanctuary on Sunday with these symbols of Resurrection and new life! The instructions and the origami paper will be available in the narthex. VOLUNTEERS: We are looking for nursery volunteers to serve during worship. We hope for a pool of those willing to serve so that we don't have to ask you to serve but once a quarter. Are you willing to serve God by caring for our children? Let one of your pastors or Elizabeth Craft know if you are willing to be on our volunteer list! (A background check will be provided for you.) Ellis/Phipps Scholarship: Attention High School Seniors! Graduating seniors who are members of Mt. Hope and plan to attend college are eligible to apply for the Ellis/Phipps Scholarship. You must be a member of Mt Hope UCC and be a first-time freshmen in a college or university, or a full-time transfer from a community college to a 4 year college or university. Get an application from Elizabeth Craft, fill it out, attach your acceptance letter and return it to Elizabeth by May 1st. Easter Egg Hunt - Mark your Calendars: Children of ALL Ages! Join us on Saturday, April 8 from 10:00 12:00 here at the church, for the Easter Story, Snack, Craft and Egg Hunt. Hope to see you there! On Sunday, April 9th, our children of ALL ages will meet at the carport connected to the church direct following worship. We will grab a quick lunch at McDonald's (Mt Hope Church Rd) and visit our friends at Clapp's Nursing Center. The Easter Bunny will also be attending. Please see Carmen or Lisa for a permission slip and lunch order form. All forms need to be back in prior to 11:00 am on the 9th. We have a couple adults going on ahead of us to set up our meals for our arrival. Cost is $5 to aid in covering meal. Hope everyone can attend! Small Chicken Pies!! If you ordered any of the small chicken pies they will be ready for you to pick up on Saturday, April 8 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Someone will be in the Old Fellowship Hall to get them to you only during those hours. Monthly Calendars: I will begin to include a calendar of the month s events each month, along with the birthday lists, on the last Sunday of the month. This calendar will include all the events that are scheduled at the time. Each week you will need to check the schedule of events in the bulletin for any updated events. The calendar includes a key for abbreviations that are used to indicate what rooms are being used for the events. These abbreviations are also being included on the schedule in the bulletin. Be sure to check this calendar when you are wanting to schedule your events. Reminder: all events need to be scheduled through the church office. It is best to call when I am in the office. My regular office hours are Wednesday from 7:45 a.m. 11:15 a.m.; Thursday from 7:45 a.m. 4:30 p.m.; and Friday from 7:45 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Of course, these hours are subject to change and I will try to keep you posted through the bulletin of any changes in my schedule. Thanks, Shirley Connor Help Needed!! Are you organized and love to coordinate events? We are looking for a Farmer s Market Coordinator for four or five Saturdays (June-October: same days as Hot Dog lunches). The job includes securing vendors for event, maintaining communication with them, marking off and assigning spaces for them outside, assisting them during market days, advertising and publicizing events to community. There will be some compensation for this position. If interested, let one of your pastors know! Proctors Needed: Nathanael Greene is in need of willing volunteers to proctor on May 30, 31 and June 1 and 2 during the morning hours. It is mandatory to attend a proctor training on either May 17 or 24 at 2:45 pm at the school. Please call Carrie Ruppert at if you can possibly help even one of those days.

5 Please use your offering envelopes for your tithes and offerings. This is immensely helpful in keeping good and faithful records. Weekly Reflection and Lenten Activity: This week you are encouraged to find places in your lives that have fallen out of love, the places of your lives you have disassociated or pull back from. Find a place in your life that needs CPR. Is there a part of you or someone that you know that needs to be revived? Pray that God can use you to be an extension of God s life giving powers in their lives. Start by believing in God s promises when God says, I am opening up your graves. Have faith, believe and act out of the hope that God still moves among us.
