Altar Flowers: The flowers on the altar today are placed to the glory of God and to honor the mothers still living and in memory of the mothers who have passed away, by Helen Johnson. We will meet at the church at 10:00, have a short business meeting and devotions, then drive to Pittsboro. We will enjoy lunch at S&T s Soda Shoppe, tour the historic area, and if time permits make a brief stop at the shopping center before returning to the church. Join us for a day of good fun and fellowship. CEMETERY INFORMATION: Homecoming Sunday is May 20th at Mt. Hope so please remove all seasonal flowers and weathered and faded flowers from headstones by Wednesday, May 16 th or they will be placed in baskets attached to the shed near Baseman Road. DECORATING THE GRAVES FOR HOMECOMING: Flowers for Homecoming Sunday may be placed in the mowing area late Saturday afternoon, May 19 th. These flowers must be removed by Wednesday, May 23 rd in order for the cemetery to be properly maintained for the remainder of the mowing season. 4 Homecoming/Memorial Day lunch: The Disciples Sunday School class will be serving lunch that day right after worship service. Lunch will include: Grilled Chicken, Green Beans, Parsley Potatoes, Rolls, Tea, Peach Cobbler. Newsletter Deadline: The next newsletter will be a combined June and July Newsletter. Shirley will be out for knee surgery for most of the month of June so we have decided to combine the two months. Please be sure to have any information that needs to be included for BOTH months by the 23 rd of May. It is imperative that the information be turned in by that date since Shirley will be out of the office after the 25 th. If information is not received, it cannot be included! Graduation Sunday June 3 rd : We will be celebrating the graduates of Mount Hope Church on Sunday, June 3, If you have a graduate or you are a graduate this year, high school or college, please send me your information so we can celebrate with you. I will need a picture, a write up about all of your accomplishments, awards and activities you participated in, also included, your full name, parents names and grandparents names. I will need this information by, May 23 rd. We will be grilling hotdogs Saturday, May 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the picnic shelter. Come on out and help us celebrate this exciting occasion with our family! Strengthen the Church Special Offering: This offering, supports the expansion and vitality of the United Church of Christ. The first half of your gift funds ministry within our local conference while the second half strengthens the church nationally! The Strengthen the Church offering will be received on May 27, 2018! Our beloved denomination needs your support to fulfill on its commitment to creating a just world for all by investing in new ministries and practices that meet the emerging needs of local communities. Please prayerfully consider making a gift. Nazareth Child & Family Connection: Each year our Church Women participate in the celebrations at Nazareth. This year, on Saturday, June 2 nd, they will be celebrating their 112 th year of serving children and families in need throughout North Carolina. As they did last year, they will be drawing for four prizes at 4:00 p.m. You do not have to be present to win. The grand prize this year is a 2018 Toyota Corolla im. Tickets are available for a donation of $5.00 per ticket. See Linda Miller or Dee Greeson soon for your tickets as they will go quickly. The other prizes being offered are listed on the tickets.

5 Andy Open Golf Tournament: Plan to join us for the 8th Annual Andy Open Golf Tournament in memory of Glenda and Dean Andrews. The captain s choice tournament will be Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Brookwood Golf Course, 1753 NC-61, Whitsett, NC. Shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. Entry fee of $50/golfer or $200/team includes green fee, cart fee, breakfast, lunch, and prizes. Prizes awarded for: 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd place teams, closest to pin and long drive. Entry deadline is June 1st. Hole sponsorships available at $50 each. All proceeds will benefit Mt. Hope United Church of Christ.
