All who are able will come forward by the center aisle and stand before the station on your side of the sanctuary. Tear off a piece of bread, dip it in the juice and eat. Kristin Gerner Vaughn and Rev. Lynne Hinton will serve as Co-Pastors. Kristin is a native of Southeast Guilford County. A graduate of Catawba College, Salisbury, NC and Wake Forest University Divinity School s inaugural class. Kristin served as Chaplain for Forsyth Regional Cancer Center, as well as parish ministry positions at Peace UCC, Greensboro, NC and Pilgrimage UCC, Marietta, GA and Brick Reformed UCC, Burlington, NC. Lynne is a graduate of UNC-G and Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, CA. She has served as a chaplain for hospice as well as Pastor of several congregations including Mount Hope UCC in the early nineties. She is also the author of nineteen books. She returns to pastor with Kristin who

4 was a member of that church when she served before. Kristin writes about this new adventure, I am looking most forward to being a part of the lives of the amazing families in the Mt. Hope community and beyond as we worship together and celebrate God s presence among us. Plus, I get to do this amazing ministry with Lynne Hinton, a gifted, creative, fun, amazingly talented writer and pastor that exudes compassion and gratitude. Lynne notes that she feels as if she s the luckiest person alive to be able to serve with a minister for whom she has the deepest respect and appreciation in a place that she cherishes and has always thought of as home. The two begin their ministry on June 1, The church is located at 2400 Mt. Hope Church Road in Whitsett, NC. Correction from the newsletter: Please note the June newsletter shows two different dates for the VBS PLANNING MEETING. The CORRECT DATE IS SUNDAY, JUNE 12 AT 3:00. A lot of help is needed for this project, so please make plans to attend this important meeting on June 12. If you have questions, contact Carmen Cox. Attention Youth: DISCOVER YOUTH CAMP OPPORTUNITIES Directed by Catawba College: The deadline is quickly approaching for applications for DISCOVER a free week long experience at Black Lake Retreat Center where youth can learn about God and the Bible, grow in their faith, engage in serving others, take field trips to the N.C. Zoo, Charlotte Whitewater Center, new technology and more. Youth who have completed grades 6, 7, 8 July 31 to August 6. Those who have completed grades 9, 10, 11, 12 first year of college June 19 to 25. There is no cost for this opportunity. Talk to your youth director or leader for more information. It is located above the box that is provided there for your contributions. Also, there is a sign-up sheet in the breezeway for those who are willing to come and help us on June 18 th. How did that outpouring of compassion change your situation? During the week look around you, (at work, at home, in the community at school, in the grocery store) is there someone who is alone and hurting that needs you to show them that God cares about them? Sign-up sheet for Lunch with Pastor Lynne and Coffee with Pastor Kristin are posted on the pastors office door. Words from Lloyd and Gussie: It s been about the fastest nine years of our lives. From the time we arrived at Mt. Hope to the day that we are leaving you our lives have been changed forever. From the time I answered the call to the ordained ministry Gussie and I have been on our own. Extended family is something we could only think about. Who were we to turn to when we needed someone to lean on or when we needed some physical or emotional nourishment? We honestly understand what it means to call the church our family because for forty-two years the church has been the closest thing to a family that we ve been able to have. We feel so privileged to have come to Mt. Hope to bring us to the end of our formal ministry. You have been such an important part of our lives and we ll never forget it.

5 Thank you so much for the wonderful send-off that you provided for us. Thank you so much for the wonderful gift that you gave us as a token of your love. Most of all, thank you for the love and friendship that you have given us for these past nine years. The one thing I m certain of is the fact that our spirits will be part of each other for the rest of our lives and beyond. We wish only the best for you and rest assured that every time you get together for worship, chicken pie/bbq Supper, or any work or fellowship event, our spirits will be right there with you.
