1 Transfiguration Sunday Communion and Family Sunday March 3, :00 A.M. White Prelude Be Still and Know Traditional Melody, arr. Richard A. Williamson; God Himself is With Us by Joachim Neander, arr. Edward Broughton (You are invited to a time of quiet preparation for worship during the Prelude.) Ringing of the Bell Welcome and Informal Moments Choral Introit *Call to Worship L: We gather in the presence of our God. P: We rest in the peace and comfort of our Creator. L: We dwell in the love of Christ. P: We find strength and hope through the gifts of our Redeemer. L: We abide in the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. P: We find courage in our Sustainer, to face all that this life may bring. Remembering the glories of the one we follow, we come and worship! *Opening Hymn Come, Christians, Join to Sing No. 108 Unison Prayer of Confession and Lord s Prayer Good and Gracious God, help and guide us to use our whole lives to glorify you. When our thoughts, words, and deeds do not radiate your love, forgive us, and lead us in your ways. Transfigure our hearts to always reflect your glory and shine your truth. May our whole lives be a living reminder of who you are to the world. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray saying, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.

2 Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and glory, forever. Amen. Words of Assurance Scripture Luke 9:28-36 Sarah Whitfield Time for Children (The children will remain with their families during worship.) *Hymn Fairest Lord Jesus No. 109 Joys and Concerns Pastoral Prayer and Silent Prayer Choral Prayer Response Invitation to Offering Offertory My Faith Looks Up to Thee by Lowell Mason, arr. Terry Kirkland *Doxology No. 44 Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen (As our morning offerings are brought forward, so too are the non-perishable food offerings from the basket in the Narthex for St. Philip's Food Pantry.) *Unison Prayer of Dedication Good and Gracious God, bless the offerings that we place before you. Transform these gifts into actions of faith as we serve you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Sermon Mountain Top Moments Rev. Josh Fitterling

6 Ash Wednesday Service March 6 th, 6pm St. Philip s Episcopal Church Parish Hall As the season of Lent begins, we join our friends at St. Philip's for this service of prayer and penitence, which will be co-led by Rev. Marcia Richardson and Rev. Josh Fitterling (preaching). We will participate in the moving, ancient ceremony of the imposition of ashes, as we reflect on these humbling words of God - "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." Is It Yours? Remember to check the table in Fellowship Hall for any items from the kitchen and other places that might belong to you. After a reasonable amount of time, unclaimed items will be thanked for their service and freed from their unappreciated existence in our church. Sunday Night Bible Study The study of 1 Corinthians led by Rev. Josh will continue in March! Bible Study will meet in Fellowship Hall at 6pm on March 3 rd, 10 th, 24 th, 31 st. Join us for one session or for them all! Faithfully Facing Death A Lenten Study Series Wednesdays from 11:30am 1pm Beginning on Wednesday, March 13 th, join us for this adult education study series co-facilitated by Rev. Josh Fitterling and Rev. Oscar Wallace. Throughout this 5-week study, with our faith as our guide, we will explore mortality, suffering, pain, death, and the celebration of life. Discussion will include practical information for advanced planning and decision making, as well as offer a place for us to wrestle with this often difficult subject. If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Josh at or joshfitterling@myfairpoint.net. Daylight Savings Time March 10!
