4 Traveling Chalice This week the Traveling Chalice will be in the home of Jude Maurer and Family Please pray for Vocations AROUND THE CAMPFIRE EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT UPDATE: Gavin Schmit, a parishioner of St. Mary, chose to restore St. Mary s church bell as his Eagle Project. When the church was remodeled in 1988, the bell was removed from the tower due to structural issues. Since then, it has been stored behind the church. There is historical significance with the bell as it was moved from the original church, built in 1892, across town and remains a large part of St. Mary s history. Gavin s goal is to restore the bell to its former glory. The bell has already been sand-blasted and repainted to look brand new, but the church lacked a place to hang it. After Gavin consulted with St. Mary Buildings & Grounds Commission, it was decided that the bell would be placed in front of the gathering space doors on a foundation that Gavin would construct. He has begun by digging two 2x2x2 round holes for the church bell mount. Gavin will construct the mount to complete his project and he hopes to obtain a commemorative plaque for former APL, Harvey Sessler. If you have any questions or know of someone interested in joining Boy Scouts please contact Steve Brown at Circa 1952

7 WORD OF LIFE: Our efforts to heal the wounds of society will depend on our capacity to love and to be faithful to our mission. The Holy Father is showing us very clearly that our struggle is not just a political battle or a legal problem, but that we must evangelize and humanize the culture, then the world will be safe for the unborn, the elderly and the unproductive. The Gospel of Life is a Gospel of mercy. If we are going to get a hearing in today s world, it will be because people recognize that authenticity of our lives and our dedication to building a civilization of love. We are called to live our lives as a service to others and commit our lives to give witness to the presence of God s love and mercy in our midst.
