Please join us, and be prepared to be delighted!! KINDERGARTEN 6 TH GRADES: The Kindergarten-6 th grade students have all performed their Christmas Stations and they were wonderful!!! Despite the lack of rehearsal due to snowstorms, they gave us a grand performance, and sent us home with the TRUE Christmas Story close to our hearts. A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU goes to Deb Krausse who came forward and volunteered to make new costumes for our program. She gifted us with 8 Mary costumes as well as some Joseph s and an Innkeeper. It truly helped make the program better than ever!! Our elementary students will take a break for Christmas now, and return to class the week of January 13 & 14. Catechists: REMINDER, there is an In-service meeting at 6:30 p.m. on January 7. Please set aside that time so we can plan for our second semester and continue to share our faith in the best possible way. YOUTH MINISTRY: A very special thank you to the families and youth that gathered for the Rock Haven Christmas party! May your joyous spirits continue to sing throughout the Christmas season! The middle school youth gathered for Reconciliation last weekend. We began with a song by Stephen Curtis Chapman titled, This Baby, which captures the life of Jesus as a baby, boy and man everyone, even adolescents can relate. I encourage parents to check it out on your lunch break or in the wee hours of the morning or night at

5 and search This Baby by Stephen Curtis Chapman. Father Jim spoke to the hearts of the youth, In a way, you re This Baby. He encouraged them to reflect on one way they turn from God prior to celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Traveling Chalice A Program of Awareness and Prayer for Vocations This week our parish gratefully acknowledges Louis and Jacqueline Pins as they host our Traveling Chalice General Announcements SISTER PARISH: St. Anthony in Neopit, Wisconsin, our sister parish, received $1,137 from our parish for Christmas. They are overwhelmed and grateful! St. Anthony elementary school children made cards for our children. You can see the cards hung throughout our building, as well as the special note below: DEAR FRIENDS AT ST. MARY CHURCH: We want to wish you a very Merry Christmas with as many blessings as snowflakes. Enjoy family, friends and relatives over the holidays. And stay close to the Babe who became like us to keep us close to God. Stewardship: A Way of Life Do not be afraid, Mary Luke 1:30 It can be a little scary to do as God asks to give Him the first fruits of our time, talent and treasure. But the comforting words the angel spoke to Mary can comfort us, too, when we dedicate ourselves to being good Christian stewards. Do not be afraid.

The free retreat will focus on Catholic Identity, Mission and Discernment. Any interested men should contact Msgr. 7 T was the month before Christmas when all through our land, not a Christian was praying nor taking a stand. See, the PC Police had taken away the reason for Christmas no one could say. The children were told by their schools not to sing, about Shepherds and Wisemen and Angels and things. It might hurt peoples feelings, the teachers would say December 25 th is just a Holiday. Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit Pushing folks down to the floor, just to get it! CDs from Madonna, an X-Box, an I-pod something was changing, something quite odd! Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda. As Targets were hanging their trees upside down at Lowe s, the word Christmas was nowhere to be found. At K-Mart and Staples and Penny s and Sears you won t hear em say Christmas ; it won t touch your ears. Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty are words that are used to intimidate me! Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton! At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter to eliminate Jesus, in all public matter. And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith forbidden to speak of salvation and grace. The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded the reason for the season, stopped before it started. So as you celebrate Winter Break under your Dream Tree sipping your Starbucks, listen to me. Choose your words carefully, choose what you say. Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday! Please, all Christians join together and wish everyone you meet MERRY CHRISTMAS.

8 All five Cluster parishes are represented on the Stewardship Subcommittee. The task of this subcommittee is to discuss possible ways of partnering in the various approaches to stewardship in the cluster parish, including the three standard dimension of time, talent, and treasure. One of the bishop s specific directives to our cluster is to intensify the development of stewardship at the cluster level. At a recent meeting of this subcommittee, members shared what each parish was doing in the areas of time, talent, and treasure. Each parish has in place many programs that require time and talent commitments from their members. Each parish also has an annual commitment program of some kind for the treasure portion of stewardship. Four of the parishes are using The Offertory Program developed by Bannon Associates. One parish has developed its own program. As we move forward, future meetings will focus on what programs might be shared within the cluster to continue developing stewardship within the parishes.
