3 NEW! Catholic Home Missions Appeal The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place next weekend, April 25/26. One way that this appeal works to strengthen home mission dioceses in the United States is by funding seminarian formation in poor dioceses. The blessing of seminarians places a financial burden on these dioceses, where educating each seminarian cost $35-40K per year. Your support is needed for these young men, so that they will be able to receive the education and guidance necessary to become priests and serve the people of God in their dioceses. You may have seen recently in the Catholic news that ordinations are up 25% this year in the United States! This is a great blessing, but your support is needed. Please strengthen the Church at home by making a generous gift to next week s appeal. NEW! Golf Fore Life Have fun, save lives and raise funds for Her Choice, the only pro-life pregnancy resource center located in the heart of Birmingham. The cost is $200 ($125 tax deductible) per individual golfer, and prizes will be awarded immediately following the tournament. The 12 th Annual Golf Fore Life will take place on Friday, May 8 at Highland Park Golf Course. Lunch will be at 12:30pm, and the Shotgun Start 1:30pm. Senior Activity at St. Francis Xavier Attention Seniors: St. Francis Xavier Parish will hold its monthly activity for Catholic Senior Adults of the Birmingham area on Thursday, April 23, The day will begin with Mass in the daily Mass chapel at 11:00am, followed by lunch and bingo in the Parish Hall. A donation of $7 is asked to defray the cost. Call to reserve your spot by Wednesday, April 22, at NEW! National Day of Prayer The public is invited to a National Day of Prayer Breakfast at the American Village in Montevallo on Thursday, May 7 at 8:30am. Fr. Having your contact information on file enables us to include you in occasional mailings, provide accurate reporting of our membership to the Diocese, and plan better for future needs. In addition, this year we hope to create an updated parish directory, since one has not been made for several years. Your information is never sold or otherwise shared with outside groups.

4 NEW! Flower Guild Members Needed Fr. Jerabek would like to thank our newlyformed flower guild for the beautiful fresh flower arrangements for our Holy Week and Easter Celebrations. Current members are Christina Hensel, Susan Fay, and Kelly Wood. HAVE AN INTEREST IN ARRANGING FLOWERS FOR OUR PARISHES SPECIAL LITURGIES? The Guild is accepting additional members. Training will be provided and no prior experience is necessary. If you are interested, please let Alice in the office know REMINDER! Confraternity of Christian Mothers Ladies, you are invited to join the Confraternity of Christian Mothers Chapter # 3534 on April 21 from 6:00-8:30pm at Holy Infant of Prague in Trussville. The meeting begins at 6:00pm with Adoration and Confession. Holy Mass is at 7:00pm followed by a guest speaker, Maria Thompson. Maria will speak on her new book about her mother, entitled See You in Heaven. The CCM is open to all mothers, physical or spiritual, single or married. Eugene O Connor Scholarship Fund The latest statement from the diocesan Deposit & Loan Fund shows that our Scholarship Fund has a current balance of $6,484.82! We will need much more, however! If you would like to donate, simply leave a check in the collection with Scholarship Fund on the memo line. Have you brought Holy Communion to a sick person? Do you have a pyx? Have you ever brought Holy Communion to a sick person in a hospital or in their home? Do you have a pyx (the round metal container used to carry the host) whether it s your own or one that the church lent you? (Or maybe you have an old pyx that a family member left to you?) If so, please bring it to Father Jerabek as soon as possible so that he can purify it. (Please do NOT do this yourself!) Thank you! Food Pantry Shopping Bags Needed Do you have a bag full of old grocery bags at home? If so, consider recycling them by donating them to our Food Pantry. Also, please remember to bring a food item or two each week. We can always use the help! Thank you! Visits to the Sick and Homebound Know of a Catholic who is sick or homebound, who is not currently being visited by a priest or extraordinary minister of Holy Communion? Please let the office know their name, phone number, and address. We will contact them and find out how we can help.
