Parish Mission Statement The mission of the Catholic communities of St. Blaise and St. Brendan is to be a people united in the Eucharist and dedicated to spreading the Good News of God s saving love to all. We seek to encourage the full and active participation of all God s children and be a place where they can come to know, love, and serve God. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we give witness to the teachings of Jesus Christ by actively living the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, thereby being signs of God s love in the world. Here is a chance for you and your family to learn more about the MANY ministries at St. Blaise. Join us after each Mass the weekend of January 26th & 27th in the church hall; talk to members of various ministries, explore your interests, and get involved! Prayer Shawl Ministry ~ The Prayer Shawl ministry meets every Monday, except holidays and during inclement weather. The members of the ministry make BEAUTIFUL prayer shawls and lap blankets that have been blessed by Fr. Al. The ministry also makes beautiful white baptismal blankets, also blessed by Fr. Al, given to each child baptized at St. Blaise. If you know of a parishioner, family member or friend that may like a shawl or lap blanket, please call the office. New members are always welcome! ~Second Sunday of Ordinary Time~ Do whatever he tells you. These are the words of Mary at the end of today s gospel! Mary is saying these words to us too - to you and me. What is He telling us to do? The Psalm gives us one response - Proclaim his marvelous deeds to all the nations. St. Paul also reminds us that we have been given special gifts. Do you recognize the special gifts that the Spirit has given to you? Pray for the grace to use your gifts to proclaim his marvelous deeds to family, neighbors, friends, co-workers. Church in Latin America: Next week s second collection supports the Church in Latin America (CLA). The CLA provides support for pastoral projects in financially poorer diocese in Latin America and the Caribbean. CLA funds catechetical and lay leadership programs, youth ministry, evangelization programs, and formation programs for the religious, priests and deacons. CLA is making it possible for the Catholic faithful in the Western hemisphere to help each other. ~Cursillo: An Opportunity to Deepen Your Faith~ Cursillo is an encounter with Christ in a small community of the Church, in order to deepen your own faith and strengthen your ability to be witnesses of Christ in the world. The date for the Women s Cursillo weekend is February 28-March 3, The weekends run from Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon and are held at the Campion Center in Weston MA. For more information The annual contribution statements~ for 2018 are ready. If you would like a statement of your contributions for tax purposes, please call the office at or Paula at paulanieva@saintblaise.org. Please note that Paula needs at least a day or two notice for statements to be printed and statements will not be mailed unless requested. You must be on the envelope or automatic bill pay program to receive a tax statement. Scout Sunday: will be celebrated on Sunday February 3rd at the 10:00 Mass, all scouts and scout leaders are invited to attend Mass in their uniform. Baby Items Needed All items needed are 0-3 months and 3-6 months especially Nightgowns- baby sleep bags - baby bottles - newborn or size 1 diapers, Diaper bags - size small sleep & play - sweaters - crib sheets - socks, Flannel receiving blankets - pacifiers - toiletries - diaper rash ointments - Baby shampoo - body wash & maternity clothes (NO BABY POWDER) All proceeds benefit Pregnancy Help Office, Archdiocese of Boston If you prefer a monetary donation, please make check payable to: Fund for the Unborn ~Our Parish Prays For Life~ A Holy Hour for Life will be held on Sunday January 20th from 1-2 pm at St. Blaise as part of the Archdiocesan observance of the January 18th National Day of Prayer and Penance. This Holy Hour will be held at parishes throughout the Archdiocese so that we will be praying in solidarity with the thousands of pilgrims going to Washington, D.C. for the March for Life. Led by Fr. Al, we, along with our brothers and sisters of St. Brendan s will pray together for those who have been wounded by abortion, for respect for the dignity of human life from conception to natural death, and that those who govern us may be guided by justice, truth, and a love for the gift of life. The Holy Hour is organized by Boston Deacons for Life in collaboration with the Pro Life Office of the Archdiocese of Boston. Please join us, all are welcome "Annual" Parish Retreat...Again this year there seems to be an interest in a retreat to the Franciscan Retreat Center in Kennebunkport, Maine. Are you interested in two days of relaxation and prayer on the beautiful coast of Maine?? If so, please send your name and contact information to Fr.
